In Walmart’s Last-Mile Delivery team, we’re building intelligent systems that combine real-time data, AI agents, and scalable platforms to power our delivery infrastructure. Spark Driver—our largest last-mile network—now spans all 50 states, reaches over 94% of U.S. households, and plays a pivotal role in Walmart’s eCommerce growth by enabling fast, flexible, and cost-effective fulfillment.

Position Summary

We are seeking a Director of Marketplace Optimization to lead the design, development, and execution of intelligent systems that optimize Spark’s supply, pricing, and real-time operations. This leader will oversee teams driving pricing optimization, supply automation, and scenario planning, with the goal of creating a self-regulating, highly reliable marketplace that delivers with speed, efficiency, and scale.

You will partner closely with Product, Engineering, Data Science, and Operations to build agentic systems that anticipate and address imbalances—ensuring we have the right driver at the right place, at the right time, at the right cost.

What You’Ll Do

• Own the roadmap and outcomes for Spark’s marketplace levers: dynamic pricing, supply automation, and scenario response planning.
• Lead cross-functional teams across Product, DS, and Ops to develop real-time automation that balances demand and supply.
• Drive experimentation frameworks to improve offer acceptance, reduce cost per delivery, and increase fulfillment speed.
• Oversee the build-out of pricing systems that adjust incentives based on demand patterns, driver behavior, and operational needs.
• Partner with Ops to implement scalable mechanisms that reduce manual intervention and support marketplace health.
• Integrate multiple signals—order volume, driver availability, route density—to make Spark more intelligent and autonomous over time.
• Serve as a key thought partner for future AI initiatives and agentic infrastructure that supports marketplace stability and efficiency.

Basic Qualifications

• 7+ years of experience in marketplace operations, pricing systems, logistics, or real-time optimization roles.
• Proven leadership in scaling intelligent systems and cross-functional teams.
• Strong analytical skills and comfort working with DS/ML partners.
• Excellent communication skills with ability to influence both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Demonstrated ability to drive results in fast-paced, ambiguous environments.
• 10+ years in marketplaces, gig economy platforms, or fulfillment logistics.
• Experience leading dynamic pricing systems, supply planning, or matching logic.
• Familiarity with AI/ML-driven automation or agent-based orchestration frameworks.
• Track record of designing and launching real-time decision systems at scale.
• Strong product intuition and systems-level thinking.

The annual salary range for this position is $130,000.00-$260,000.00
