Senior Manager, Risk Management

Ameriprise Financial is seeking a strategic and proactive Senior Manager of Risk Management to join our team. In this high-impact role, you’ll guide the organization in developing critical risk controls and overseeing day-to-day risk management across complex product lines within Asset and Wealth Management (AWM). You’ll lead process reviews, support key projects, and serve as a key risk liaison—facilitating cross-functional communication and collaboration to escalate issues appropriately and drive forward risk-reducing solutions, all while ensuring strong regulatory and supervisory compliance.

Key Responsibilities

• Facilitate alignment, resolve escalated issues and provide a point of contact for business and external senior leaders for assigned product lines. Identify opportunities and recommend solutions to mitigate current and future business risk.
• Ensure regulatory and supervisory controls are in place for products and processes by acting as a point of contact for internal, external business partners. Direct and guide initiatives by validating applicable rules to business processes and enhancing processes or documentation as necessary. Lead operational and regulatory audits.
• Review reports illustrating risk parameters and metrics associated with business lines.  Develop and enhance risk measurement policies, procedures and metrics. Enhance risk reporting with new ideas gathered from research, best practices, and knowledge.  Initiate and/or conduct Risk Assessments across business.
• Coach and mentor other team members and partners. Key lead on complex issues. Serve as key resource in special projects that have larger scale organizational impact.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent (4 years)
• 7+ years relevant experience required
• Strong analytical, organizational, and time management skills
• Excellent written and communication skills, with ability to prepare presentation materials and translate complex concepts to diverse audiences
• Strong ability to lead, partner, and influence across all leadership levels
• Demonstrated people leadership experience, either through direct leadership or coaching/mentoring roles
• Ability to drive results and meet deadlines to reduce risks
• Must be able to work independently
• Series 7 license or ability to acquire within 120 days of hire

Preferred Qualifications

• General knowledge of broker/dealer products and processes
• General knowledge of compliance and risk program framework

Base Pay Salary

The estimated base salary for this role is $98,100 - $132,400 / year. We have a pay-for-performance compensation philosophy. Your initial total compensation may vary based on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and geographical work location. In addition, most of our roles are eligible for variable pay in the form of bonus, commissions, and/or long-term incentives depending on the role.
