Summary:

The temporary Compensation Analyst is an entry level role and works as part of the Compensation team to provide support for Human Resource compensation actions. This role will assist with classification, pay/market analysis, survey responses, organizational review, and HR Information System data auditing. The Compensation Analyst will collaborate with Human Resource Partners across the institution to provide information, guidance and support on Compensation processes, workflows, and data to assist departments accomplish position creations, reclassifications, promotions, reorganizations, and market/equity studies.

This role will be the point of contact for the Compensation team as well as reviewing job descriptions, gathering market analysis, handling the ServiceNow portal for the Compensation Team, and supporting various compensation projects and processes to ensure alignment with the organization’s strategic goals and budget. This position works closely with departments and management to deliver data-driven insights and recommendations.

This position reports to the Director of Compensation and may take direction/assignments from other Compensation Analyst as part of the Total Rewards and Service Delivery team. This is a temporary position and funded for 1 year.

Essential Functions:

1.) Job Description and Job Aid Database Management

  • This role coordinates documentation and workflow processes for various position-related requests, including new roles, reclassifications, reorganizations, and promotions. The Analyst partners with HR representatives to retrieve and/or draft job descriptions that meet departmental needs and align with the organization’s job architecture. The Compensation Analyst applies compensation policies to assess job classifications, FLSA status, and pay banding for staff positions. They are responsible for reviewing and editing job descriptions to ensure clarity, appropriate titling, and alignment with minimum qualification standards. The role also includes ensuring job descriptions are accurately maintained in the HR system (Workday).

2.) Survey Preparation and Equity Analysis

  • Participates in salary survey submissions, performs data matching using platforms such as Market Pay, and prepares internal equity and market analyses to support informed pay decisions.

3.) Project Support

  • In support of compensation programs, assists with the administration of annual processes such as union wage increases, merit cycles, bonus and equity distributions. They actively participate in cross-functional HR projects including Job Architecture, policy updates, audits, testing of compensation modules in HR systems, and leadership of job description standardization projects. The role includes providing both administrative and technical support for compensation-related initiatives.

4.) Data Analysis and Reporting

  • Assist with the preparation of regular reports that provide insights into compensation trends, pay equity, and market positioning. Conducts data audits of compensation records and use HRIS tools, such as Workday, to perform reporting and generate insights. Assist in validating and reconciling data during compensation cycles and support the team in responding to external salary surveys and internal data requests.

5.) Service Now Support

  • Assists customers with service now request. This may include providing job descriptions, reviewing policies, making corrections in the Workday system, and other potential requests that may come in. Consults with other HR departments as needed to resolve service tickets. Escalate service tickets to appropriate departments and team members when applicable.  

6.) Other Duties as Assigned.

Position Type/Expected Hours Of Work:

  • Full-Time.

  • 35 hours per week.
  • Hybrid Modality 1 – 2 days a week working from home.
  • This is a temporary full-time position ending on or before 10/01/2026.

Salary Range:

  • UPDATED $68,000 - $70,000 annually.

Required Education And Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent.
  • 1 - 2 years of relevant experience.
  • 1 - 3 years of experience in HR, compensation, or data analysis.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and HRIS systems (e.g., Workday).
  • Strong analytical and organizational, and ability to prepare clear reports.
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information appropriately.
  • Strong attention to detail and numerical accuracy.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred Education And Experience:

  • Bachelor'S Degree.

  • 3 - 5 years of relevant experience.
  • Experience in higher education is strongly preferred.
  • Experience working with colleagues at all levels with a customer-focused mindset.
  • Experience with high volume compensation action/position management reviews.
  • Certification in Compensation preferred (e.g., CCP or equivalent).
  • Experience with Workday and Marketpay.
  • Basic understanding of employment laws and pay regulations.

Travel Required:

  • Minimal Travel Required.
