Job Description:
HPE is looking for a Communications Manager to support our Chief Marketing & Communications Officer (CMCO) and articulate the strategy of our Global Marketing & Communications (GMC) organization.
About The Team:
With nearly 1000 marketers and communicators across the globe supporting HPE’s end-to-end communications and marketing engine, the CMCO and her team are responsible for ensuring HPE’s value propositions are clear and differentiated, that new and immersive experiences bring to life the company’s innovation and purpose, and the strength of the company’s brand advances its market position.
About The Role:
This individual contributor will develop and execute internal and external communications for HPE's CMCO to increase visibility, expand influence, and enable cultural imperatives for growth. They will sit at the heart of the GMC team, serving as a counselor and advisor leading special projects that advance the CMCO and her Leadership Team’s strategic priorities by articulating the team’s strategy and supporting transformation directives.
About The Candidate:
The ideal candidate is a strategic, collaborative, and articulate communicator, strategist, and advisor with client-facing public relations agency experience and/or direct experience supporting senior executives. This person is a solution-oriented self-starter who operates well in complex, matrixed environments with a desire to grow and impact an organization.
Responsibilities:
- Strategy & Transformation Articulation: Play a pivotal role in shaping how the GMC team communicates its vision, priorities, and evolution. Support preparations for the CMCO to deliver Board, Executive Committee, and the GMC organization updates on progress.
- Thought Leadership: Develop distinct thought leadership platforms aligned to CMCO’s priorities. Identify, secure, and maximize top-tier targets for media engagement, influencer relationships, and public speaking. Craft executive speeches, scripts, presentations, talking points, and briefing documents for internal and external engagements.
- Team Culture: Foster pride, confidence, and engagement among team members with consistent communication. Drive business acumen through communication and trainings. Organize celebrations for performance milestones, cultural moments, and life events with a spirit of fun, creativity, and inclusivity. Manage team meetings from concept to execution, optimized for digital and global engagement.
- Social Media: Develop and execute the social media strategy for CMCO to promote HPE’s business, reputation, and culture. Capitalize on real-time opportunities for news making, brand building, and stakeholder engagement. Develop content, facilitate approvals, monitor activity and continually optimize performance.
- Cross-functional collaboration: Represent the interests of the CMCO in meetings. Align with senior leaders on strategic priorities. Partner with cross-functional executive communicators to drive a cohesive narrative across the enterprise.
- Operational Excellence: Enhance the brand of the CMCO and Global Marketing & Communications team with consistent communication and experiences (standards, templates, processes, etc.). Analyze effectiveness of communication and continually optimize performance.
About You:
- Background working directly with clients and senior leaders, developing executive-level communications, supporting change management communications, communicating a team’s strategy, vision, and purpose, building trust and influencing cross-functional teams.
- Exceptional writing, editing and presentation skills, with the ability to synthesize complex information into a clear point of view with concise language for a variety of audiences.
- Excellent judgement and discretion when working with sensitive or confidential information.
- Expert organizational skills and project management.
- Based in and excited to be in-person in the Spring, TX (preference) or San Jose, CA offices when the CMCO is in-office.
Education And Experience Required:
- BA or BS in Communications, Marketing, or Business Administration.
- 10+ years of experience in employee communications, strategy, operations, journalism, or marketing.
- Previous client-facing agency and/or executive advisory experience is highly preferred.
- Mix of experience leading an executive’s communications or change management communications, media relations, internal communications strategies, and creative planning is highly preferred.
- Previous experience contributing to or leading integrated communications campaigns.
- Aptitude and desire for collaboration with cross functional teams.
Knowledge And Skills:
- Advanced writing and editing skills - very minimal peer or manager edits needed.
- Strong listening and interpersonal skills.
- Strong organization and program management skills.
- Ability to link communications plans and activities to business results.
- Advanced knowledge and understanding of employee communications methodologies, tools and vehicles.
- Proven experience managing, leading, driving and measuring teams achieve common goals.
- Fluency in English.
- High levels of tact and diplomacy.
