Job Description
We are currently looking for a Medical Advisor (Associate Director) (all genders) to join our Medical Affairs team in the Ophthalmology (including DMA: Diabetic Macular Edema & AMD: Age-related Macular Degeneration) therapeutic area as soon as possible.
This role is open to candidates located anywhere in Germany.
Your Responsibilities:
- Responsibility for the therapeutic area Ophthalmology
- Provide medical input for scientific studies (Phases I–IIIb), including analysis and interpretation of data in a medical context
- Identify and support scientific research projects and local studies (NIS, registries, IIS), including publications in collaboration with Medical Science Liaisons (MSLs) and cross-functional teams
- Conceptualize, medically support, conduct, and oversee scientific symposia; attend study meetings and (inter)national congresses and symposia, including scientific preparation of congress content
- Support medical content for Health Technology Assessments and Value Dossiers in close cross-functional collaboration with internal departments
- Plan, organize, and conduct national advisory boards, including Scientific Leader management
- Present and discuss pipeline data in advisory forums and during internal and external stakeholder presentations
- Develop, align, and implement Medical Affairs plans
- Collaborate closely with colleagues from various departments in a cross-functional setup
- Prepare, provide, present, and discuss scientific information, data, and projects
- Participate in local cross-functional ophthalmology teams and the European Regional Medical Affairs team
Your Profile:
- Degree in medicine or pharmacy (PhD preferred), or a scientific university degree with a doctorate
- Experience in (field) Medical Affairs, preferably in the pharmaceutical or biotech industry
- Ideally, strong knowledge of the ophthalmology therapeutic area, scientific environment, networks, and study groups
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills with various internal and external stakeholders
- Strong team player with experience working in diverse cross-functional teams
- Independent, results-oriented, and strategic working style with high standards of quality and organizational skills
- Ability to contribute to shaping the medical strategy through strategic and analytical thinking and market understanding
- Strong interest in scientific questions and knowledge sharing
- Knowledge of benefit assessments for pharmaceuticals (AMNOG) and experience in HTA dossier preparation is a plus
- Able to present complex topics in a clear, engaging, and professional manner
- Empathy, flexibility, and a strong sense of responsibility when interacting with scientific leaders
- Excellent communication skills in English are required; German language skills are preferred
