Role And Responsibilities
Samsung Electronics America (SEA) is seeking an experienced Sr. Manager, RAN Performance Systems Engineer SME to join our Wireless network team. The Sr. Manager will be responsible for leading a team of technical staff members who are responsible for general acceptance of 4G/5G software releases and/or new solutions introductions. You will provide effective leadership skills to manage all aspects of field acceptance testing and support, resource planning, task assignment, tracking deliverables, and risk management to ensure product deliverables are met. This is a very critical role as the Samsung network team success hinges on this acceptance of our solution.
- Responsible for hands on analysis of network performance issues (i.e., air interface, call processing, etc.) and creating solutions to meet network optimization expectations.
- Collaborate with the Network Engineering and Operations teams on the cell site’s antenna and RF equipment configuration and database parameters.
- Communicate PA team budget, milestones and deliverables to project management and implement plans to accomplish the milestones within budget, as required.
- Educate our customers on Samsung’s new products and services both individually and in a team environment.
- Ensures that customer commitments are achieved according to plan.
- Works closely with various support organizations, logistics, and cross- functional teams from SEA and Samsung HQ to achieve successful new product rollouts and developments.
- Present technical and non-technical ideas, in a logical, compelling manner in written format and verbally in small and large group settings.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or Electrical Engineering; Advanced degree is a plus.
- 10+ years’ work experience in the wireless industry.
- Solid understanding all technical problems in LTE/5G.
- Managed team of engineers on LTE/5G Performance projects.
- Requires hands on experience in the SME technical domains.
- Good understanding on 5G/4G concepts such as Hybrid Beamforming, Massive MIMO, New Waveforms, LTE-NR interworking & co-existence, 5G Numerologies etc.
- Understanding of 3GPP systems: Core and RAN networks.
- Understanding of HW as well as SW architecture.
- Understanding of RAN Virtualization (VNF) and OA&M Systems.
- Must have good understanding of Local Redundancy and Geographic redundancy solutions.
- Successful track record defining direction and providing specific instruction for engineering projects/programs leveraging personal knowledge and organizational skills to increase team efficiency, facilitate personal development and mentor colleagues.
- Demonstrated research and problem-solving skills via prior work experience.
- A solid understanding of RF fundamentals and data network protocols.
- Must have a strong work ethic, integrity and work extremely well in a team environment.
- Strong interpersonal communication skills.
- Proven ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Travel to customer locations, trade shows, etc. approximately 20% of time.
- Experience with ongoing 3GPP Rel-15/16 activities is beneficial.
- Experience with SW development is beneficial.
- Experience with wireless infrastructure provider and/or operator is desired.
