We Are Hiring

We are looking for a highly qualified Legal Counsel to provide legal advice and support to the company’s management and business units to ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations. This role will focus on drafting, reviewing, and negotiating contracts, advising on regulatory and corporate governance matters, and supporting the company in managing legal risks..

About The Job

• Draft, review, and negotiate commercial contracts, agreements, and other legal documents to safeguard the company’s interests. 
• Identifying and evaluating legal issues arising from commitments made by the company and to advise and formulate appropriate resolutions for the same
• Provide legal advice and guidance on a wide range of corporate, commercial, employment, regulatory, and compliance issues
• Support the company in corporate governance matters, including board resolutions, shareholder matters, and regulatory filings.
• Advise on risk management and mitigation strategies in line with applicable laws and company policies.
• Monitor legal and regulatory developments (including AMLA, PDPA, Companies Act, Financial Services Act, etc.) and ensure business compliance.
• Liaise with external counsel, regulators, and government authorities when required.
• Assist with possible mergers, acquisitions and formation of business entities within the jurisdiction and other markets for business expansion. 
• Assist in managing litigation, disputes, or investigations, including coordination with external lawyers. y
• Develop and implement internal policies, templates, and training programs to promote legal awareness within the company. 
• Maintain proper documentation and legal records.

To Be Successful

• A Bachelors’ or Law degree from a recognized institution
• Minimum 6 years of post-qualification experience in corporate/commercial law
• Admission to the Malaysian Bar 
• Working experience in a regulatory and business environment, fintech technology and/or a start-up specializing in financial services including but not limited to e-money and remittance and money lending business and operations, investment products and services is an added advantage 
• Strong knowledge of Malaysian laws and regulations including Companies Act 2016, PDPA 2010, AMLA, Financial Services Act, E-Money regulations, and Money Services Business Act 2011. 
• Excellent drafting, analytical, and negotiation skills
• Well organized, meticulous, attention to detail and able to multi-task
• Ability to set priorities and work under pressure
• Good interpersonal skills and the ability to interact with all levels of the organization / diverse personalities
• Professional appearance and demeanour
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
