Role Summary
Flowserve seeks a Technical Training Specialist for Pumps & Pump Systems, based in Irving, TX. This Training Specialist coordinates, presents, and documents technical training programs for both internal and external audiences. This role centers on delivering engaging instruction through classroom, virtual, and hands-on environments. The Training Specialist works closely with the training development team, offering subject matter expertise, feedback, and support to ensure materials related to centrifugal pumps and mechanical seals are accurate, effective, and aligned with industry needs.
*Requires 40-50% travel, including US and Canada.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver technical technical training utilizing rotating equipment via in-person sessions, virtual modules, and digital platforms for internal teams and external customers.
- Facilitate web-based, classroom, and hands-on training programs using instructional materials provided by the development team.
- Collaborate with the training development team by reviewing draft materials, validating technical accuracy, and suggesting improvements based on real-world application and participant feedback.
- Track training metrics, participant outcomes, and feedback; share insights with the development team to enhance future programs.
- Maintain and update existing training equipment and workshop activities, ensuring readiness and relevance for each session.
- Regularly validate workshop activities and exercises, reporting findings to the development team for material updates.
- Perform and instruct root cause analysis for centrifugal pump and mechanical seal issues during training sessions.
- Ensure compliance with Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) standards and OSHA regulations throughout all training activities.
- Provide professional, customer-focused support during training, both face-to-face and remotely.
- Willingness to travel up to 40-50% to deliver training at various locations.

- Required Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree (BS or BA) in a relevant field (e.g., engineering, industrial technology, or similar) OR equivalent professional experience in pumps, mechanical seals, or a closely related industry.
- Demonstrated passion for teaching and working with diverse groups.
- Excellent written, verbal, and public speaking skills.
- Confident and positive interpersonal skills; able to engage effectively with customers and teams.
- Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office suite.
- Willingness and ability to travel extensively (up to 40-50%).
- Understanding of HSE and OSHA regulations.
Preferred Skills & Experience
- Hands-on field service experience with rotating equipment, pumps, compressors, or mechanical seals.
- Certification or formal training in reliability, millwright, or field service technician disciplines (e.g., CMRP, Millwright certificate, OEM service training) is a plus.
- Proven ability to diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair industrial equipment in field or plant environments.
- Millwright-level mechanical aptitude: advanced alignment, assembly/disassembly, rigging, and precision installation of pumps and large rotating machinery.
- Familiarity with preventative/predictive maintenance strategies, reliability-centered maintenance (RCM), and condition monitoring tools (vibration analysis, infrared thermography, ultrasound, etc.).
- Experience conducting equipment failure investigations and root cause analyses in industrial settings.
- Understanding of reliability engineering principles, such as FMEA (Failure Modes and Effects Analysis), RCA (Root Cause Analysis), and asset performance management.
- Ability to interpret technical documentation, mechanical drawings, P&IDs, and OEM manuals.
- Skilled in using precision measurement tools (micrometers, dial indicators, laser alignment systems) and common hand/power tools.
- Experience working in heavy industrial environments (oil & gas, power generation, chemical plants, water/wastewater, mining, etc.).
- Familiarity with maintenance planning, work order systems, and computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS).
- Strong safety mindset; experience adhering to site-specific safety protocols and industry regulations.
- Prior experience mentoring, instructing, or training technicians or operators in hands-on mechanical or reliability topics.
- Excellent troubleshooting, problem-solving, and communication skills in fast-paced or customer-facing roles.
- Team-oriented approach and strong communication skills.
- High degree of self-management and ability to prioritize tasks independently.
