Whether working in our Operations, Technical, Race or Business Support functions, we are all in and aspire to build the greatest team in the history of our sport.
Every individual plays their part. No stone is left unturned in the chase for every tenth of a second. The history of our sport is long and rich, and we are continuing our journey with renewed effort year on year. Record books remember the names of a few, but history is written by the many.
About The Role:
We have an exciting opportunity to join the Legal team at Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS Formula One as Legal Counsel.
This is a unique opportunity at the intersection of elite sport and business. The successful candidate will be responsible for the fulfilment of day-to-day business legal needs as well as supporting the Legal team with strategic legal tasks.
Key Responsibilities:
Collaborating across the Legal team and wider organisation, you will act as the first point of contact for internal customers and responsibilities include:
- Draft, review, mark-up, negotiate, and finalise all forms of commercial contracts, including complex agreements (e.g., sponsorship, licence, agency, partnership, and standard form contracts).
- Act as a lead or support in conjunction with legal and purchasing departments to address queries and negotiate with suppliers regarding Purchase Order terms and other contractual matters.
- Ensure execution of contracts by authorised representatives as required.
- Respond to and action general legal queries from management, marketing, finance, operational, and HR teams.
- Interpret and advise on Formula One regulations, governance, and regulatory matters.
- Leverage legal technology to improve efficiency, streamline workflows, and enhance contract lifecycle management.
- Monitor regulatory developments and provide training and guidance to relevant teams to ensure ongoing compliance and awareness.
What You'Ll Bring:
The successful candidate must have qualified as a solicitor with strong post-qualification experience either in the commercial department of a law firm or within an in-house legal team (preferably a sports team).
You will have excellent interpersonal skills and a proven, demonstrable track record of working successfully within a team. The Legal department requires someone who is resilient, calm when working under pressure (especially within tight timescales), has excellent attention to detail and is extremely well organised. An autonomous problem-solving approach coupled with a strong work ethic and a willingness to go “above and beyond” will be the cornerstone of the successful candidate’s approach to work.
What We Offer:
