Position Description

The Anoka County Corrections Department invites you to consider joining these public safety professionals as a Manager, Correctional Health Nursing. This position performs a variety of duties which include providing leadership and direction to correctional health staff, develop and facilitate staff training, and ensure coverage for all shifts.

Anoka County’s Human Services division is committed to working with people to improve lives through collaboration across its five departments: Community Corrections, Community Social Services & Behavioral Health, Economic Assistance, and the Job Training Center.

This is a full-time, exempt, on-site position. Interviews will take place the week of October 20th, 2025, for those selected to move forward in the hiring process. 

Pay & Benefits

  • Salary: $98,176 to $117,790 ($47.20 to $56.63 per hour).
  • 2025 Anoka County Salary Schedule Grade 38: $98,176 to $137,384 ($47.20 to $66.05 per hour).

Work Location

  • Anoka County Workhouse (3300 4th Ave Anoka, MN 55303), and Anoka County Juvenile Center (7565 4th Ave Lino Lakes, MN 55014).
  • Anoka County Workhouse work hours may vary, including shift rotation, on-call hours, and occasional night and weekends, based on business needs.

  • Job Duties and Responsibilities
  • These examples are not all inclusive and are intended to be illustrative of primary responsibilities of an Anoka County Manager, Correctional Health Nursing.
  • Provide leadership and direction to correctional health staff, develop and facilitate staff training, and ensure coverage for all shifts.
  • Provide patient care as needed.
  • Prepare unit work plans and monitor progress, achievements, and outcomes.
  • Prepare departmental budgets and reports and monitor service quality of health contracts.
  • Ensure accurate data gathering and patient records.
  • Develop and implement unit service standards, policies, and procedures.
  • Remain current on program-related legislation, rules, regulations and impacts on services.
  • Develop performance measurement and quality improvement processes; provide ongoing quality improvement of care by participating in meetings with correctional staff, department administration, contracted agencies and vendors.
  • Collaborate with external medical service providers.
  • Provide guidance for escalated complex cases.
  • Implement processes that ensure complete patient records and data collection.

Qualifications And Requirements:

Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Needed

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in nursing or related field and 5 years (2,080 annual hours) of job-related experience, including one year of supervisory experience.
  • Requires registration as a professional nurse in the state of Minnesota.
  • Successfully pass an extensive background investigation.

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Needed

  • Two years (2,080 annual hours) or more of management experience.
  • Prior work experience in correctional health, triage, primary care clinics, emergency room, or hospital setting.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

Physical Demands and Work Conditions

  • Standard office environment, correctional and detention institutions, field offices, courtrooms, offender'/clients' homes, hospitals and schools, and various community settings depending on assignment
  • Work activities may require contact with uncooperative, angry, and sometimes hostile clients depending on assignment
  • Assignments require several hours of varied physical activity in addition to viewing a computer screen, sitting at a desk, or walking/standing.
  • Vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus, such as to work on computers. Ability to see colors, shades and brightness
  • Hearing abilities required for general and phone communication, signals, and machine sounds
  • Physical activity may include repeated bending, stooping, reaching, twisting, and handling/carrying medical equipment.
  • Regular lifting of 0-25 lbs., occasional lifting of up to 50 lbs.
  • Equipment used includes computers, phones, and standard office equipment in addition to medical equipment.
  • Travel between work sites may require driving a county vehicle and/or a personal vehicle.
  • Exposure to bodily fluids, infectious agents, toxic or caustic chemicals, airborne particles, fumes, or other hazards is possible while performing essential duties.
