What You Will Do – Primary Responsibilities
- Serve as the SME for edge shelters, edge data centers, and related building systems.
- Oversee electrical systems, including grounding, load balancing, and compliance with NEC (National Electrical Code) standards.
- Maintain HVAC systems, ensuring optimal performance and adherence to temperature/humidity parameters for sensitive telecom and IT equipment.
- Monitor and manage UPS, battery backup, and generator systems to ensure uninterrupted operations.
- Respond to and resolve any safety or operational issues including working with vendors and regional support managers to repair damage caused by natural disaster, weather, falls or other causes.
- Ensure proper visibility and escalate major hazards which present safety or critical infrastructure integrity issues to the Director of Network Operations.
- Perform and record site safety and compliance inspections in accordance with safety regulations.
- Identify, document and ensure that any site safety and compliance issues are corrected in a timely manner and reported to management. This includes authority to shut down and/or suspend work at any site location in which it is determined that unsafe conditions exist or that such action is merited to protect persons or property.
- Resolve and/or attempt to resolve all safety, regulatory, or operational issues or discrepancies on site. If unable to resolve, report to management with recommendations for action.
- Provide operational support for OSP infrastructure, including fiber optic installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
- Collaborate with engineering teams to assess fiber routes, ensure redundancy, and maintain physical plant integrity.
- Manage vendor performance for preventative and corrective maintenance on shelters, power systems, and HVAC.
- Oversee service contracts, ensuring compliance with SLAs and budgetary guidelines.
- Act as the escalation point for vendors during emergency repairs or outages.
- Establish and enforce operational procedures for shelter and data center maintenance.
- Ensure adherence to electrical safety protocols, grounding requirements, and environmental controls.
- Participate in root cause analysis (RCA) following incidents and drive implementation of corrective actions.
- Provide 24/7 on-call expertise for critical incidents impacting shelter or edge data center operations.
- Coordinate emergency response teams during outages, ensuring minimal downtime and rapid restoration.
- Manage the timely resolution of trouble tickets, including selection and dispatch of contractors to diagnose and resolve issues in accordance with Company safety standards, policies and procedures, federal, state and local rules and regulations and act as an operational acceptance point of contact for new equipment installs on all sites. This includes authority to manage contractors performing work at assigned site locations and make decisions as to whether a contractor is performing the work in a safe, suitable, and compliant manner. Also includes authority to reject work if deemed unacceptable or non-compliant.
- Provide immediate support service during emergency issues and incident response situations.
- Manage efficient repair, maintenance, inspection, security and safe operation of all tower assets within assigned area. Issues include but are not limited to; alarm monitoring instruments and lighting units.
Supervisory Responsibilities

- Provide oversight and direction to team members in accordance with the organization's policies and procedures.

What You’ll Need – Qualifications & Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, Telecommunications, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
- Equivalent combination of education, certifications, and experience may be considered.
- 7+ years of experience in technical operations, data center facilities, telecom shelters, or critical infrastructure support.
- 2+ years of experience managing technical teams or leading cross-functional projects.
- Proven expertise in electrical systems, grounding, HVAC, OSP/fiber optics, and environmental control standards.
- Experience with vendor management, contract oversight, and SLA compliance.
- Strong knowledge of industry standards such as NEC, ANSI/TIA-942, and ASHRAE guidelines for data center environments.
Technical Skills
- Proficient in electrical testing, load analysis, and grounding verification.
- Skilled in fiber optic testing, splicing, and troubleshooting.
- Familiar with generator systems, ATS, and UPS battery backup technologies.
- Working knowledge of BMS (Building Management Systems) and monitoring tools.
Other Requirements
- Willingness to travel up to 20% for site visits, inspections, and vendor oversight.
- Ability to work outside of standard business hours during critical outages or maintenance windows.
- Strong communication skills with ability to interface effectively across engineering, operations, and vendor teams.
