This position focuses on business development in the central region, including Fargo, Moorhead, West Fargo and outlying markets. Business development primarily includes gathering deposits, generating loans, and treasury management opportunities for public entities and nonprofits. This position will work closely, assist and support the SVP/ Market Development Director in coordinating sales meetings. This position will work with both existing customers and new prospects to deepen relationships. When appropriate, the Market Development Officer will assist or send referrals to the Treasury Management, Wealth Management, Bell Investments, Bell Retirement, Private Banking, or Bell Insurance market leaders. This position will help market leaders with customer retention, business development and bank initiatives for long-term success. This position will regularly attend and represent Bell Bank at community social events and chamber functions in the central region. The Market Development Officer will seek volunteer opportunities in area chambers, non-profits and community development groups in order to gain key referral sources and contacts.

Responsibilities

  • Prospect for deposits, loans and treasury management in the Fargo, Moorhead, West Fargo and traditional markets (central region).
  • Travel and cover the state of North Dakota and western Minnesota for new prospects and customer retention.
  • Search for new prospects opportunities and provide market presidents with leads and resources to reach out to organizations by being a part of the sales process.
  • Conduct complex sales presentations and product demonstrations to sell and cross sell products and services to existing and prospective customers .
  • Develop and institutionalize a consistent, long-term plan for extending and improving relationships with key referral sources and contacts.
  • Establish and negotiate, where necessary, terms of the deposit or loan structure including costs, repayment methods and collateral requirements.
  • Assist bankers in maintaining and establishing relationships.
  • Work on projects and initiatives related to business development of central region.
  • Assist and support SVP/ Market Development Director.

Education, Experience, and Other Expectations

  • B.A. in business administration, finance or related field.
  • Five or more years of banking experience preferred.
  • One or more years of treasury management or public finance experience preferred.
  • Experience in public sector industry preferred.
  • 40% or more travel is expected to cover the state of North Dakota and western Minnesota for new prospects and customer retention

  • Detail-oriented and able to complete and prioritize projects with minimal supervision.
  • Effective time management and organizational skills.
