The Role
Joining Moderna offers the unique opportunity to be part of a pioneering team that's revolutionizing medicine through mRNA technology, with a diverse pipeline of development programs across various diseases.
As an employee, you'll be part of a continually growing organization, working alongside exceptional colleagues and strategic partners worldwide, contributing to global health initiatives.
Moderna's commitment to advancing the technological frontier of mRNA medicines ensures a challenging and rewarding career experience, with the potential to make a significant impact on patients' lives worldwide.
Moderna is solidifying its presence within our international business services hub in Warsaw, Poland, a city renowned for its rich scientific and technological heritage. This hub provides critical functions, meeting the growing demand of Moderna’s global business operations. We're inviting professionals from around the world to join our mission and contribute to the future of mRNA medicines.
This individual contributor role offers a critical opportunity to help evolve and scale Moderna’s global Procurement Operations function. As a Principal Associate in Procurement Operations, you will be central to shaping and optimizing Moderna’s core procurement platforms and processes (SAP, Ariba, MDG, ServiceNow), supporting both day-to-day operations and strategic global initiatives.
You’ll serve as a cross-functional connector — working alongside Digital, Finance, and Procurement — to drive system improvements, ensure operational compliance, and deliver key initiatives tied to data quality, supplier enablement, catalog automation, and user experience. With a global lens and a mindset for continuous improvement, you’ll lead projects, define governance models, and unlock new capabilities across the Purchase-to-Pay lifecycle.
This role is ideal for a systems-savvy procurement expert who thrives in a fast-paced, high-growth environment. The position also offers unique opportunities to explore and adopt Generative AI tools to improve automation, stakeholder enablement, and knowledge delivery across the procurement function.
Here’s What You’ll Do
Your Key Responsibilities Will Be:
- Own and manage the governance and intake process for system and process change requests across Procurement Operations.
- Lead catalog enablement and supplier enablement activities in the Ariba environment — including identification, onboarding, integration testing, and catalog optimization.
- Support the development of functional design documents in collaboration with Procurement Process Owners and Digital.
- Analyze SAP/Ariba system release packs to identify new features and business impact opportunities.
- Support testing and validation of enhancements and new functionalities across SAP, Ariba, MDG, and ServiceNow.
- Ensure compliance with internal controls and audit readiness by maintaining complete process documentation.
- Partner with Digital to monitor procurement system performance and ensure solutions function as intended.
- Deliver tailored user training and system onboarding sessions for global stakeholders.
- Apply data analytics to monitor metrics, identify process bottlenecks, and inform improvement strategies.
Your Responsibilities Will Also Include:
- Lead end-to-end project activities within Procurement Operations and Vendor Master Data domains — from initiation through execution.
- Support both local and global strategic initiatives to reduce process redundancies and enhance operational accuracy.
- Define and enforce consistent procurement data standards with both internal and external stakeholders.
- Build and maintain strong collaboration with internal partners across Procurement, Finance, and Digital.
- Present insights and reports to stakeholders and leadership to inform decision-making.
- Respond professionally and promptly to inquiries from internal and external audiences.
- Deepen your technical understanding of the system architecture — including Ariba, MDG, SAP, and ServiceNow — and bring forward opportunities to integrate Generative AI tools for reporting, training, or process augmentation.
The key Moderna Mindsets you’ll need to succeed in the role:
- “We digitize everywhere possible using the power of code to maximize our impact on patients.”In this role, your ability to translate procurement process challenges into digital solutions (via SAP, Ariba, MDG, or ServiceNow) — and ultimately harness automation or AI-driven insights — will directly accelerate operational efficiency, compliance, and scalability.
- “We behave like owners. The solutions we’re building go beyond any job description.”This position demands a mindset of accountability and proactive problem-solving. You’ll own projects end-to-end, advocate for user experience, and elevate data quality and governance — all while anticipating future needs of a growing, global Procurement function.
Here’s What You’ll Need (Basic Qualifications)
Bachelor’S Degree
- 5+ years of experience in Procurement Operations, preferably with hands-on involvement in SAP and Ariba systems.
- Experience with financial systems including SAP, Ariba, Service Now
- Experience in system implementations, process enhancements, or change management initiatives.
- Excellent English skills, both written and verbal. Additional languages are a plus.
Here’s What You’ll Bring to the Table (Preferred Qualifications)
- Good understanding of procurement processes and supplier collaboration.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, international, cross-functional environment.
- Proactive self-starter with strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities with minimal direction.
- Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret data and translate it into actionable process improvements.
- Highly collaborative and adaptable, with a process-driven approach and a strong sense of ownership.
- A desire to thrive in a high-growth, transformational company that is Bold, Relentless, Curious, and Collaborative.
