The Role

This is an amazing opportunity to be part of a great team working in the commercial law space.

CCSG Legal is seeking for a talented individual to join our vibrant team, with strong technical knowledge of commercial debt recoveries. Get ready to dive into a range of engaging tasks and gain hands-on experience.

As a Paralegal, you will manage a high-volume legal practice, including file management, issuing proceedings, obtaining default judgments, engaging with clients, and providing litigation support and legal research.

We work on a hybrid working model (3 days in the office and 2 days at home) for a full-time employee.

Responsibilities

Here’s an example of your day to day:

  • Accurately record billable and non-billable hours in line with firm policies;
  • Assist in preparing client communications, legal documents, and reports;
  • Conduct legal research and support case preparation under supervision;
  • Participate in client meetings and take clear, detailed notes;
  • Manage and organise case files, ensuring documentation is up to date;
  • Support court proceedings and assist with trial preparation when needed;
  • Communicate effectively with clients, colleagues, and external parties;
  • Contribute to process improvements and embrace new legal technologies;
  • Participate in professional development and training opportunities;
  • Collaborate with team members and support firm-wide initiatives.

Requirements

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills;
  • Excellent time management with the ability to prioritise and multitask;
  • Personable, professional, and client-focused with a flexible approach;
  • Proficient in legal research and use of online databases;
  • Basic knowledge of insurance, insolvency, and commercial litigation terminology;
  • High attention to detail and accuracy in work;
  • Quick to learn new software and systems; experience with DebtCol is a plus;
  • Proficient in MS Office suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, SharePoint);
  • Certificate IV in Legal Studies or currently undertaking tertiary legal studies;
  • Higher School Certificate (HSC) or equivalent.
