Are you seeking a role with a values-driven for purpose organisation where you can apply your skills to work holistically with and provide support to vulnerable young people experiencing DFV?
This full-time position provides support to young people who are homeless or at risk of homelessness and who are affected by DFV (Domestic and Family Violence). This position will provide support to workers and clients across Brisbane Youth Service to respond to DFV experiences and will work closely with the integrated service response to assess risk, safety plan and provide coordinated responses to young people experiencing DFV.
You’ll be a great candidate for this role if you:
- Have a tertiary qualification in Social Work, Psychology, Social Sciences or comparable qualification, or significant experience supporting vulnerable populations, particularly young people affected by DFV and homelessness.
- Can demonstrate proven experience supporting at-risk young people, with strong understanding of youth homelessness and a gendered lens on Domestic and Family Violence issues.
- Are skilled in conducting thorough assessments of young people's needs, including risk and safety planning, to inform appropriate and timely support responses.
- Are able to build trust and work holistically with young people, delivering direct support, case consultations, and training to colleagues on youth DFV issues.
- Have strong communication and advocacy skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to represent and support young people effectively across service systems.
- Have excellent planning and time management skills, able to work independently while handling multiple priorities in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
- Experience in a specialist DFV service will be highly regarded.
Given the work that we do there will be a few non-negotiables. You’ll need to be able to have, or obtain prior to commencement:
- A Working with Children Suitability Card [Blue Card].
- A National Coordinated Criminal History Check [Police Check].
- Evidence of vaccination, immunity, or medical exemption for the following preventable diseases - Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella [Chicken Pox], and Pertussis [Whooping Cough].
