BDR is seeking a Software Developer to join our growing team! This position is primarily remote with travel as requested. It requires availability during EST business hours. US Citizenship is required with Secret Security Clearance or the ability to obtain one.
Role Overview:
The Software Developer will design, build, test, and sustain software capabilities for the Theater Blood (TBLD) application under the JOMIS program. This role is hands-on with full-stack development and will contribute directly to modernizing the application using Agile and DevSecOps practices. The Developer will support feature delivery, bug fixes, and technical enhancements that ensure secure, resilient operations in Denied, Degraded, Intermittent, and Limited (DDIL) environments while meeting DoD interoperability and cybersecurity requirements.

Responsibilities and Duties (Included but not limited to):
- Implement new features, enhancements, and fixes for the Theater Blood application using modern programming languages and frameworks.
- Develop modular, containerized code supporting microservices and cloud deployment.
- Write automated unit, integration, and regression tests as part of the CI/CD pipeline.
- Build and maintain interfaces and APIs that connect the TBLD application with DoD medical, logistics, and operational systems.
- Ensure interoperability and secure data exchange across distributed and hybrid environments.
- Work within Agile teams, contributing to sprint planning, backlog refinement, and daily stand-ups.
- Support continuous integration and delivery pipelines with secure coding practices.
- Collaborate closely with system architects, testers, and cybersecurity engineers to deliver working software increments.
- Implement secure coding practices in alignment with DoD RMF and Zero Trust principles.
- Participate in security scans, code reviews, and remediation activities.
- Ensure compliance with accreditation and Authority to Operate (ATO) requirements.
- Provide Tier 3 technical support for deployed applications, troubleshooting issues as they arise.
- Maintain and update training materials, documentation, and technical baselines as software evolves.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field; equivalent experience accepted.
- 3+ years of experience in software development (defense, healthcare, or mission-critical IT preferred).
- Proficiency in one or more modern programming languages (Python, JavaScript/TypeScript, Java)
- Experience with PostgreSQL or other relational databases
- Familiarity with microservices, APIs, and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes).
- Knowledge of Agile and DevSecOps workflows, including CI/CD tools (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab, GitHub Actions).
- Understanding of secure coding, automated testing, and configuration management.
- Ability to collaborate across cross-functional teams, including IT, clinical, administrator and vendor stakeholders.
- Must be eligible to work in the United States without sponsorship due to clearance requirement.
- Ability to obtain secret security clearance required; TS/SCI preferred
Preferred Qualifications And Core Competencies:
- Active Secret security clearance
- Experience working in DDIL environments, tactical systems, or distributed applications.
- Prior exposure to DoD health IT or logistics systems (DHA, JOMIS, or related).
- Knowledge of cloud environments (AWS, Azure, or DoD CloudOne).
In addition, U.S Citizenship is required.
