About The Opportunity
The Senior Manager Workplace Compliance will lead and work with a team who are responsible for ensuring timely, consistent, and high-quality technical advice on application of the Enterprise Agreement (with particular emphasis on payment and work allocation of staff) and other associated legislation and policy.
Your key responsibilities will be to:
- initially assist in building the team responsible for assuring compliance across the University;
- establish ways of working for the team and across other teams within the Workplace Relations and Compliance Directorate;
- build and manage strong working relationships with leaders across HR Partnering and HR Leadership Teams, Office of General Counsel, Student Affairs Unit, Audit and Risk Management teams and the Research and Integrity Unit
- provide strategic advice and operational leadership to the Associate Director Workplace Compliance and Policy to assist with the development and deployment of approved strategies to assist University leaders in monitoring, resolving and, where possible, avoiding workplace compliance issues that require a remedy
- develop and manage effective strategies and, with members of the team, be responsible for engaging with University staff to increase their understanding of workplace compliance obligations
- identify and strategically influence opportunities for improvement to practices and policies and ensure effective delivery of services
- develop and implement strategies, programs and collateral that assist people managers in the prevention, early intervention in and resolution of workplace compliance issues
- ensure your team of workplace compliance officers achieve effective outcomes in line with the strategy, framework, and processes.
About You
- tertiary qualifications in a relevant field, or an equivalent combination of training and experience
- ability to work and lead in a complex and very busy environment
- experience in industrial and other workplace compliance matters management
- experience in conducting complex assessments, including experience in writing reports and recommendations to achieve outcomes
- demonstrated experience in providing advice and support to all levels of Management on the prevention and early resolution of industrial and other workplace compliance-related issues
- proven capacity to provide collaborative leadership, including leadership of direct reports, staff and peers, in order to deliver workforce goals and to provide optimal quality, service and impact
- experience in managing a team, including the capability to share knowledge, motivate, coach and mentor staff to assist their development
- excellent investigation, mediation and negotiation skills.
