Who are we looking for?
We’re looking for a Graduate Environmental Engineer to research, design, plan, and perform engineering duties in the prevention, control, and remediation of environmental hazards using various engineering disciplines. Work may include waste treatment, site remediation, or pollution control technology.

Working with an energetic and high performing team, this position offers a variety of work and will see you involved in:
- Data Collection and Analysis: Collate and analyze data using preset tools, methods, and formats. Involves working independently. Complete data compilation, interpretation, and analysis of geochemical and hydrogeologic field and analytical data for technical and environmental reports
- Engineering Drawings: Create engineering drawings to support the communication, evaluation, and implementation of engineering solutions. Contribute to the preparation of draft technical memos, reports, and deliverables including environmental investigation summary reports, remedial designs, design project specifications, annual monitoring reports, operations support, design reports, detailed designs, and permit applications
- Engineering Solutions Design: Contribute to the development of, and implement feasibility testing of, proposed engineering solutions to provide feedback and data to validate the design.
- Health, Safety, and Environment: Follow the organization's health, safety, and environment (HSE) policies, procedures, and mandatory instructions to identify and mitigate environmental risks and risks to the well-being of self and others in the workplace; instruct the team in safe working methods; identify instances of risky behaviors within the team and take appropriate action, escalating serious issues as appropriate.
- Technical Developments Recommendation: Research and suggest technical developments to improve the quality of the website/portal/software and supporting infrastructure to better meet users’ needs.
- Personal Capability Building: Develop own capabilities by participating in assessment and development planning activities as well as formal and informal training and coaching. Develop and maintain an understanding of relevant technology, external regulation, and industry best practices through ongoing education, attending conferences, and reading specialist media.
- Testing: Use product specifications to design test procedures and standards.
- Research: Support others by carrying out a range of research activities.
- Technical Troubleshooting: Support technical troubleshooting efforts, aiding in the quick and accurate identification, analysis, and resolution of technical issues with equipment and experiments.
- Project Management: Support others by carrying out a range of project management activities.
- Client & Customer Management (External): Help senior colleagues manage client and customer relationships by using relevant sales or client systems.
Field Work
- Conduct soil sampling, groundwater sampling, and surface water sampling; may also be involved with well development, single well response testing, or other field activities
- Provide construction oversight including drilling, monitoring well installation, excavation, and other construction projects
- Travel to various sites throughout southern Ontario will be required
- Adhere to GHD and client’s safety requirements
- Liaise with subcontractors, client representatives, and/or agencies, as required
Education
- Bachelor's Degree or Equivalent Level
Experience
- General Experience: Sound experience and understanding of straightforward procedures or systems (7 to 12 months)
Skills:
- Valid G driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle
- A willingness to travel to undertake field work is required (field demands can include working long hours, working in inclement weather conditions, and working in remote locations)
- Excellent time management, organization, and problem-solving skills; must be able to manage multiple tasks while maintaining a high degree of attention to detail
- Self-motivated, able to manage multiple tasks, and meet challenging deadlines
- Strong written and verbal communication skills to effectively express technical information to multiple audiences including project managers, subcontractors, field staff, clients, colleagues, etc.
