Our Global Diabetes Capability Center in Pune is expanding to serve more people living with diabetes globally. Our state-of-the-art facility is dedicated to transforming diabetes management through innovative solutions and technologies that reduce the burden of living with diabetes.
We’re a mission-driven leader in medical technology and solutions with a legacy of integrity and innovation, join our new Minimed India Hub as Senior Gen AI Data Scientist. As a Gen AI Data Scientist, you will play a critical role in our Data and AI operations. The primary responsibility will be to apply Gen AI and advanced machine learning and computer science techniques to develop, validate, modify, and test AI systems for specific business needs at an advanced level.

This role offers a dynamic opportunity to join Medtronic's Diabetes business. Medtronic has announced its intention to separate the Diabetes division to promote future growth and innovation within the business and reallocate investments and resources across Medtronic, subject to applicable information and consultation requirements. While you will start your employment with Medtronic, upon establishment of SpinCo or the transition of the Diabetes business to another company, your employment may transfer to either SpinCo or the other company, at Medtronic's discretion and subject to any applicable information and consultation requirements in your jurisdiction

Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned:

• Work with stakeholders throughout the organization to identify opportunities for leveraging company data to drive business solutions.
• Develop and implement AI models, machine learning algorithms, Gen AI applications to solve business problems.
• Analyze large, complex datasets to identify trends, patterns, and insights.
• Develop processes and tools to finetune, evaluate, monitor, and analyze model performance and accuracy.
• Use software design principles and AI Copilot/AI builders to develop production ready code.
•  Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define project objectives and deliverables.
• Design and execute experiments to test hypotheses and validate model Communicate findings and insights to stakeholders in a clear and concise manner.
• Stay up-to-date with the latest advancements in Gen AI, data science and machine learning techniques.
• Mentor and provide guidance to junior data scientists.

Required Knowledge And Experience:

• Strong understanding of ML algorithms and techniques: supervised and unsupervised learning, deep learning. Deep knowledge in NLP, Computer Vision, and GenAI, including architectures like Transformers, BERT, GPT, etc.
• Strong programming skills in languages such as Python. Must be an expert in writing ML code.
• Working experience with full-stack web development (using either Python backend + React frontend or AI builders like lovable.dev  and builder.io).
• Proficiency in data manipulation and analysis using SQL and Spark. Can build vector DB.
• Hands-on experience in state-of-the-art ML and DL as applied to large-scale datasets.
• Hands-on experience with ML frameworks and libraries (PyTorch, Scikit-learn, NLTK, llama-index, Langchain, Lang Graph).
• Solid understanding of statistical concepts and techniques. Strong Math background.
• Solid understanding of feature engineering, model evaluation techniques, vector DB, Agentic and RAG applications.
• Working experience with cloud computing platforms (AWS). 
• Working experience with deploying, monitoring, finetuning LLM/VLM models and building AI agents.
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in a quantitative field (Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or related field).
• Proven experience as a GenAI Data Scientist or Machine Learning Engineer. Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

• We’re looking for someone with 5-10 years of experience manipulating data sets and building ML models/GenAI applications, has a PhD in a quantitative or engineering field.
• Hands-on experience with big data technologies, vector database, LLMs, RAG applications.
• Working knowledge of cloud computing platforms (AWS, Databricks).
• Experience with cloud ML platforms (Bedrock or Databricks ML).
• Hands-on experience with data orchestration tools and CI/CD (Databricks Workflow, MLFlow, GitHub Action)
• Expert in deploying and monitoring ML models, LLM/VLM models.
• Ability to drive projects.
