Key Accountabilities And Decision Ownership:

  • Managing End to end multivendor Radio Access Network configuration and support and ensuring that components are consistently configured and maintained to meet specified performance and operational requirements. It involves Setting up and configuring various RAN components, such as base stations (BTS, NodeB, eNodeB, gnodeB, BSC/RNC), integration to CS/PS Core network and related infrastructure and user equipment to ensure optimal network performance and user experience. 
  • Leads and develops a team through clear objective and target setting for performance and career development.
  • Manage all Radio configuration and support tools, software and hardware inventories and track upgrades and licensing.
  • Develop and maintain service level agreements (SLAs) to ensure that the RAN support team meets agreed-upon performance standards.
  • Provides input to management on tactical and strategic issues, key contributor to developing products strategy.
  • Collaborates with legal, SLT and ECA to ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Providing technical support and resolving issues related to the radio access network. This includes troubleshooting, monitoring network performance and collaborating with other teams to ensure network stability and optimization, handling customer complaints, diagnosing and identifying potential root causes and resolving technical problems, managing alarms, conducting corrective actions and providing on-site support to customers when necessary, including hardware installations and troubleshooting.
  • Carrying out Cut-over, Rehoming, hardware & software upgrades, RAN Software and Patch upgrades/updates and parameters tuning/optimization to achieve quality KPIs and fix network issues.
  • Ensure changes are implemented quickly, efficiently and with minimal disruption to services, while adhering to established processes and minimizing risks.
  • Implementing mechanisms for backing up and restoring network configurations in case of failures and ensuring network resilience. 
  • Ensuring all configuration procedures, parameters and logs are properly documented, including the reason for the change, the steps taken and any potential impacts. 
  • Performing a risk assessment before each parametre change to identify potential problems and mitigate them, and measuring how often rollbacks are successfully implemented and what the impact of those rollbacks is.
  • Provide support and maintain relationships by engaging with various role players to ensure that any operational changes or incidents are effectively and efficiently actioned with minimal effect on network operations and services. 
  • Support the security, technology resilience and risk management processes. 
  • Defining acceptable levels of service degradation during changes and establishing rollback procedures if these levels are exceeded.
  • Perform after hour standby duties for service operations and disaster recovery management. 
  • Champions network automation: zero-touch provisioning, scripts for bulk changes to reduce manual effort and error.
  • At least 8 years senior level experience in Radio Access Network Configuration &or L2/L3 Support
  • Experience in managing and leading teams, particularly in a technical environment. 
  • Perform after hour standby duties for service operations and disaster recovery management. 
  • Champions network automation: zero-touch provisioning, scripts for bulk changes to reduce manual effort and error.
  • At least 8 years senior level experience in Radio Access Network Configuration &or L2/L3 Support
  • Experience in managing and leading teams, particularly in a technical environment. 

Must Have Technical/Professional Qualifications:

  • Practical knowledge on the use of radio planning and network management tools: Atoll, EMS, UME, MySQL, NetAct, Advanced Excel, Erlang-B etc.
  • A relevant technical certificate, Degree (Electrical Engineering / Computer Science) or at least 5 years’ experience in RAN Configuration or network change management as a process specialist. 
  • Excellent verbal and written communications.
  • Creative problem solver, take initiative, and proactively communicate with the team and customers to ensure program success.
  • Advanced user of Microsoft office365, and a proficient user of Microsoft ExcelTM or equivalent business productivity software.
  • Organized, empathetic, and have strong customer service skills.
  • Understanding the business impact of configuration errors (e.g., outages, SLA )
