How will you make an impact in this role?

The Global Support Enablement & Control (GSEC) organization sits within the Global Servicing (GS) organization and consists of talented operations and enablement colleagues from around the world who empower and enable the growth of American Express. This team brings the Global Servicing organization’s vision to life by collaborating, innovating, and developing valuable, scalable solutions, and balancing the needs of customers, colleagues, and shareholders.  

Within GSEC, the Servicing Capabilities & Innovation (SC&I) team is responsible for driving capabilities, digital initiatives and transformation within Global Servicing.  The team also oversees the GS Gen AI strategy to explore expanding use cases and serving as a critical partner with the Technology, Risk, and Capabilities teams to bring Gen AI to life in ways that will best serve colleagues and customers. 

The Director Assistant to the SVP of the SC&I team is an exciting global role for a highly motivated individual who is excited to operate at the intersection of technology and servicing.  The Director Assistant role will partner closely with the SVP to lead business planning, operational processes, colleague initiatives, and special projects for the office. This role will work closely with the Colleague Experience Group (CEG), Corporate Affairs & Communications (CA&C), and senior members within the GSEC and GS leadership team to manage day-to-day business priorities, strategic results, and broader needs of the team. The Director Assistant will ensure critical processes and initiatives are efficiently and effectively handled and will be responsible for maintaining strong relationships with the offices of each Leadership Team member. 

Job Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the overall effectiveness of the SC&I Executive Office. 
  • Work closely together with the SVP on critical business and functional topics, including setting, refreshing, and ensuring execution of goals/priorities. Knowledge of the Company’s technology priorities and processes are a plus.   
  • Own global initiatives across the organization examples of which include, annual Planning, ongoing support of strategy materials, performance management/talent review processes, OPEX and budgeting, Colleague Engagement, etc.  
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships across different groups and/or departments that liaise with the SC&I organization. 
  • Manage the Colleague Engagement strategy. 
  • Create / contribute to impactful and engaging presentations & engagement activities such as Senior Executive Management Deep Dives, Strategic Projects, and Town Halls. 
  • Provide strategic support on a range of complex issues and projects and lead distinct elements of key projects on behalf of the SVP. Knowledge of the Company’s technology priorities and processes are a plus.   
  • Program manage critical projects going on within the org.  
  • Manage and support senior leader site visits and support regional employee engagement. 
  • Have a strong knowledge of Call Centre Management metrics and leavers, understand capacity plans & real time execution & be able to make executive decisions in the moment. 
  • Work with all markets to ensure alignment between GSEC & GSG on key strategies. 
  • Act as a central point of contact for urgent business issue and support ad-hoc requests.

  • Strong relationship and management skills - ability to build alignment among customers and key stakeholders.

  • Superior communications, organization, and planning skills 
  • Highly organized, proven attention to detail and exceptional time management 
  • Provide strategic thought leadership and operational support to drive critical initiatives. 
  • Possess ability to manage/prioritize multiple, competing deliverables with strong follow-through. 
  • Adaptable to continually changing priorities and demonstrates ability to influence without direct authority. 
  • Self-motivated with proven ability to work independently. 
  • Strong work ethic with a will-to-win and demonstrated personal excellence. 
  • High level of integrity for handling confidential information. 
  • Salary Range: $130,000.00 to $205,000.00 annually + bonus + benefits
