Position Summary
Provides various treatment programs and procedures in collabo¬ration with supervisor and other staff therapists. The Physical Therapy Assistant will actively participate as a member of the healthcare team to engage patients, families, and caregivers in the coordination of patient care.
Minimum Requirements
Education:
- Graduate of an accredited program for physical therapy assistants.
Experience:
- Experience in an outpatient physical therapy setting is preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
- Must be able to perform all duties associated with the position of Physical Therapist Assistant.
- Strong communication skills and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrates maturity to function independently, organize work and set priorities appropriately.
License/Certification/Registration:
- Must possess current licensure to practice in Pennsylvania.
- Must complete the American Heart Association’s Healthcare Provider Basic Life Support (BLS) and renew BLS every two years.
- Must possess or be eligible for Physical Therapist Assistant – Indirect Supervision License.

Receives general supervision from the Director Operations.

Essential Functions
- Provides physical therapy treatments for patients based upon evaluation of a licensed therapist, effectively building rapport and trust
- Performs responsibilities in a manner which demonstrates professionalism
- Regularly acts as an assistant to the therapist when the therapist is performing complex evaluations and treatments
- Executes the plan of care, measuring it at appropriate intervals and seeks advice about changes in the plan
- Provides patient education while assisting the patient in understanding home treatment and exercise programs
- Maintains proper documentation of patient records with physical therapists’ supervision
- Maintains the physical orderliness of the facility
- Checks the treatment areas for proper arrangements of equipment on a daily basis and as needed during the day
- Assists the therapists and aide in cleaning equipment as necessary
- Maintains professional growth/development
- Encourage patients to complete the full course of therapy without discontinuing the plan of care
- Provide patients with effective HEP’s?
- Educate patients about benefits of fitness services provided by Fit for Play
- Maintains competency through self-study, peer review, and continuing education
- Understand proper documentation processes for compliance and billing purposes
- Complete all paperwork related to patient care
- Perform other duties as required
