We’re on the lookout for a passionate and experienced Operations Manager to join Bupa’s Medical business. In this pivotal role, you’ll work closely with the National Operations Manager and wider Bupa Medical team, overseeing the operational efficiency, financial performance, and overall success of a group of Medical Centres. The Operations Manager will support and lead Practice Managers to maximise the profitability, retention, revenue growth and customer satisfaction and is accountable for developing the skills & capabilities of the team to succeed through rigorous business planning, analysis, process improvement, innovation, and strong functional management.
This is a full-time permanent position based in Melbourne with travel required to our centres across VIC.
How will I help?
- Lead initiatives to improve centre performance and cost efficiency across Bupa Medical Centres. Focus on increasing clinician utilisation, patient volume, GP engagement, and operational effectiveness at both site and regional levels.
- Develop and implement strategies to optimise network performance and reduce costs.
- Lead targeted interventions to improve clinician utilisation, patient volume, and GP attraction and retention.
- Set clear KPIs for each clinic and ensure accountability through coaching and support.
- Provide guidance and mentorship to Practice Managers and centre teams on people leadership and development. Conduct regular performance reviews, set goals, offer ongoing feedback and develop and lead engagement initiatives to ensure a positive, highly engaged working environment for centre team members.
- Support centres in meeting accreditation standards and maintaining compliance in line with regulatory and Bupa standards.
- Act as the primary relationship manager for self-employed GPs, fostering strong relationships and retention, working closely with recruitment colleagues to positively engage and onboard new GPs.
- Enhance patient care by standardising processes and monitoring key metrics such as satisfaction, feedback, and reviews, and take prompt action to address any issues.
- Work closely with the National Operations Manager, Bupa Medical Leadership team and wider Bupa business to implement business strategies and change initiatives.
- Develop and manage annual budgets for each clinic. Analyse financial data to improve revenue and reduce expenses.
- Serve as the key contact for internal and external stakeholders, including patients, providers, community groups, and regulators.
- Represent Bupa Medical at meetings, conferences, and events.

What do I need?
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Healthcare Management or a related field (desired)
- Proven experience in a leadership role within healthcare, with previous experience in multi-site management ideal.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and relationship-building abilities, with a customer-centric approach.
- Solid understanding of healthcare industry trends, regulations, and best practices related to primary healthcare.
- Exceptional leadership and team management capabilities, with a track record of developing and motivating high-performing teams.
- Adequate understanding and awareness of Medicare Benefits Scheme and Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme
- Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret data, analyse trends, and make data-driven decisions.
- Demonstrated financial acumen with a solid commercial mindset
