The Supreme Court of Ohio is seeking to fill the position of Intern in the Law Library. Under the supervision of the Research Services Manager, the intern will work closely with the research librarians and director on existing projects related to metadata entry, library reorganization, and answering legal and legislative reference questions.
The intern will assist with the upload of content to the digital asset management system and the creation of item-level metadata and transcriptions for digital objects; assisting with planning and moving a collection of materials; research using a variety of legal sources. The intern may have the opportunity to assist with some program planning and library outreach initiatives.
Job Description
What You'Ll Do:
The following duties are normal for this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned.
- Digital Asset Management: Assist with uploading content to the digital asset management system and creating item-level metadata and transcriptions for digital objects
- Collection Preparation: Support planning, rehousing, and evaluating materials for digitization
- Legal & Legislative Research: Learn and apply research skills using a variety of legal sources.
- Program & Outreach Support: Contribute to program planning and assist with library outreach initiatives.
- This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Qualifications
What we’re looking for…
The student must be a current graduate student in a Library and/or Information Science program (MLS/MLIS) or public history/archives program at an accredited School of Library Science or Public History. The candidate should have strong organizational skills and be able to work within deadlines; be comfortable working both independently and with staff librarians. Excellent communication and computer skills are a must; experience with archives, creating indexes or cataloging objects is a plus.
Supplemental InformationThis internship is designed to be part-time (270 hours maximum) beginning after January 1, 2026, and ending before May 1, 2026. Applicants must have the ability to schedule most on-site hours in Columbus between 8:00 am – 5:00 pm weekdays (scheduling is flexible within these hours). If your university program offers credit for internships, we will try to tailor the internship to the length/hours desired. The position will pay $21 per hour to graduate students. Intern positions are only eligible for public retirement benefits through OPERS.
