Primary Objective

Supervision of construction contractors to ensure projects Civil / Structural works are carried out safely and timeously to deliver a quality finished project. Typical works include bulk earth works, ramming & piling works, mechanical assembly of light steel structures (photovoltaic mounting systems), trenches, structural concrete structures, service roads, small (one store) metal frame buildings.

Specific Accountabilities

• Promote a Safe work environment with all contractors and ensure compliance of the HSE Plan.
• Technical supervision of project EPC Contractor in the execution of their duties.
• Carry out daily inspections on all civil and structural related work.
• Monitor the compliance of the execution of the civil & structural construction works according to the design documents and the EPC contract, best practices and applicable regulations.
• Monitor that civil & structural works are carried out according to the method statements and the design.
• Quality assurance and quality control at site, including review and sign off of the method statements, inspection and test plans (ITPs); witnessing testing (incl. calibration of equipment) and monitoring through periodic and planned randomized spot checks.
• Prepare weekly civil & structural progress and expenditure reports on a project specific basis.
• Evaluate regularly the performance of construction relative to the project schedule and other agreed objectives by carrying out daily monitoring.
• Carry out regular reviews of construction workload, manpower utilization and staffing requirements, to ensure both the adequacy and efficiency of all assigned staff.
• Set up and implement daily checks to provide assurance that all supervised activities are being undertaken in accordance with the appropriate procedures and work practices, and that procedures and work practices are sufficient.
• Prepare appropriate reports and disseminate the report / matters arising throughout construction Operations.
• Check compliance with QA / Safety / Environment goals.

Essential Skills/Experience

• Degree/Diploma in Civil Engineering
• 5 to 10 years of experience in site civil and structural works
• Renewable Energy projects, civil/structural environment experience advantageous
• Ability to work to tight deadlines
• Creating a healthy working relationship with Client and Contractors

Competencies Of The Job:

·        Computer Literacy i.e. MS Office including MS Projects.

·        Driver’S License.

• Appropriate formal Safety qualification.
• Appropriate Environmental training.
• Understanding of Quality Assurance principles and ability to implement/ ensure compliance.

Special Conditions:

• Must be prepared to work on site away from home office on a permanent basis.
• Flexibility to travel and / operate from region
