Ngā kōrero mō te tūranga – About the role
In this role, you’ll provide high-quality technical support that underpins teaching and research across molecular, cellular, biochemistry, and biomedical programmes within Te Aka Mātuatua School of Science. You’ll be part of a collaborative team of skilled technicians, each with their own area of expertise, working together to ensure our laboratories run smoothly and safely.
From maintaining and operating specialist equipment to supporting staff and students in their learning and research, you’ll play a key role in creating an environment where scientific discovery and innovation can thrive.
Salary will be in the range of $71,275 - $84,695 per year based on skills, knowledge and experience brought to the position. This is a full-time role (37.5 hours a week), based on our Hillcrest Campus.

You’ll bring a relevant tertiary qualification in Biomedical, Molecular, or Cellular Biology (or equivalent experience), with strong laboratory and technical skills. Highly organised and detail-oriented, you can manage competing priorities while maintaining a safe, efficient, and innovative lab environment. You’re an excellent communicator, confident with data and ICT systems, and committed to professional growth.
Collaborative yet able to work independently, you build positive relationships across diverse teams and student groups. Flexible, proactive, and service-driven, you approach challenges with initiative and problem-solving flair. STEM, The Division of Science, Engineering and Computing comprises the Schools of Te Aka Mātuatua Science, Te Kura Mata-Ao Engineering and Au Reikura Computing and Mathematical Sciences.
