Description
IE University’s School of Politics, Economics & Global Affairs (IE-SPEGA) is seeking candidates in all areas of Applied Microeconomics for a tenure-track Assistant Professorship beginning September 2026.
We particularly welcome candidates whose research focuses on sustainable development and/or the impact of technological change on labor markets, health, and education.
IE has established itself as a dynamic institution with growing influence in policy evaluation across multiple domains. The Economics Department conducts rigorous, policy-relevant research in applied microeconomics, closely aligned with IE University’s strategic research clusters and addressing global challenges such as climate change, sustainability, inequality, and technological change.
Its core expertise lies in causal inference methods for policy evaluation, structured around two broad research clusters: (1) Gender Economics, Education, Health, Labor, and Inequality, and (2) Sustainable Development, which integrates Environmental and Climate Change Economics, Development Economics, and Behavioral Economics. Incoming faculty will thus join a vibrant academic community offering strong opportunities for collaboration, visibility, and policy impact.
Located in Madrid and Segovia, Spain, IE-SPEGA is part of IE University and a full member of the Association of Professional Schools in International Affairs (APSIA) and the CIVICA European University alliance. We offer a competitive remuneration package, a dynamic research and teaching environment, and a cosmopolitan workplace in the heart of Madrid. English is the working language, and our faculty and students are highly diverse and international.
