Job Summary:
This position is a full-time, subject matter expert-level position at the Gates Institute located on the Anschutz Medical Campus and serves on the Finance team. This position will be responsible for managing the following processes for both the Gates Institute and the Gates Biomanufacturing Facility: 1.) Accounts Payables items through CU procurement office/system 2.) Accounts Receivable activity associated with CU’s PeopleSoft system, 3.) Journal Entries to internal speed types 4.) Balance sheet Account reconciliation. 5.) Concur Travel & Expense reporting liaison for both Gates Institute and the Gates Biomanufacturing Facility employees.
This position will report to the Finance Manager and have responsibilities in both the Gates Institute and the Gates Biomanufacturing Facility.
Key Responsibilities:
Finance/Procurement
- Monitors and manages department speedtypes, including quarterly meetings with each GBF Department managers to ensure expenses are under budget.
- Monitors and manages the AP/AR entries with a monthly reconciliation within PeopleSoft to reflect customer sales/revenues.
- Monitors, manages, and publishes financial data that is obtained out of Marketplace, including tracking of Project Spend and Purchase Order detail.
- Responsible for acting as a subject matter expert related to university procurement rules and regulations and adheres to best practices when reviewing and approving expenses.
Grant/Fund Accounting:
- Management and oversight of all expenditures on sponsored projects to ensure compliance with sponsor-specific rules and restrictions (for example, NIH, DOD, etc.).
- Monitors and manages direct and indirect costs for all projects to ensure all appropriate expenditures have been posted to project speedtype before the close-out process and to prevent any overages/deficits.
- Perform monthly reconciliation of department accounts with abnormal balances and monitor cash balances on all speed types with the GBF.
- Work with the Office of Grants & Contracts Billing and Accounts Receivable departments on any discrepancies, late payments, late invoices, or incorrect allocations of payments. Contact sponsor(s) regarding any discrepancies and/or missing payments when necessary.

Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications:
- A bachelor’s degree in finance and/or accounting, or a directly related field from an accredited institution.
- Substitution: A combination of education and related technical/paraprofessional experience may be substituted for the bachelor’s degree on a year for year basis.
- 4 years of professional-level related experience working in an Accounting or Finance department.

Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working within biotechnology and/or manufacturing industries.
- A Masters’ degree in business administration, finance, or accounting, or a directly related field from an accredited institution.
- 6 years of professional-level experience working in an Accounting or Finance department.
- Minimum of 2 years working within the CU Procurement system.
- Minimum of 2 years working within the CU Peoplesoft Financial system.
- Minimum of 2 years working within the CU Concur Travel & Expense reporting system.
Competencies/Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities:
- Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills are required.
- Ability to address multiple ongoing challenges that will be encountered while performing required job duties.

- A team-oriented, self-starter capable of operating independently in a start-up environment.
- Familiarity with the use of office machines (e.g., printer, scanner, etc.).

Anticipated Pay Range:
The starting hiring range for this position has been established as $64,336 - $81,836.
The above hiring range represents the University’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.
This position is not eligible for overtime compensation.
