The Core Research Associate I will be responsible for day-to-day operations and maintenance of laboratory equipment and facilities, while providing technical support within a dynamic scientific environment. This role requires expertise in tissue culture for mammalian cells, preferably with a focus on stem cells, as well as experience in molecular biology techniques. Strong bench or instrument skills, basic troubleshooting and protocol refinement abilities, and excellent interpersonal skills are essential for success in this role. The successful candidate will work closely with a team of researchers, contributing to advancing scientific knowledge and discoveries.

  • Conduct day-to-day operations and maintenance of laboratory equipment and facilities, ensuring they are in optimal working condition. *
  • Perform tissue culture techniques for mammalian cells, with a focus on stem cell maintenance, expansion, and differentiation protocols. *
  • Execute molecular biology experiments, including DNA/RNA isolation, PCR, qPCR, gel electrophoresis, and DNA sequencing. *
  • Collaborate with research team members to design and execute experiments, troubleshoot technical issues, and refine protocols. *
  • Contribute to the development and optimization of experimental protocols and methodologies. *
  • Maintain accurate and detailed laboratory records, including experimental procedures, data, and results. *
  • Ensure adherence to safety protocols and maintain a clean and organized laboratory workspace. *
  • Contribute to the preparation of research reports, presentations, and scientific publications. 
  • Stay updated with the latest advancements in tissue culture and molecular biology techniques, implementing innovative approaches when applicable.
  • Participate in laboratory meetings, seminars, and training sessions to enhance scientific knowledge and skills. *
  • Assist in the management of laboratory supplies, equipment, and inventory. *
  • Demonstrate strong interpersonal skills, fostering effective communication and collaboration within the research team.

  • Bachelors
  • 1 year in research environment OR Masters in relevant field

Preferred Skillset

  • Strong proficiency in tissue culture techniques for mammalian cells, particularly stem cells, including cell line establishment, expansion, and differentiation.
  • Proficient in a wide range of molecular biology techniques, such as DNA/RNA isolation, PCR, qPCR, gel electrophoresis, and DNA sequencing.
  • Excellent bench or instrument skills, with the ability to operate and maintain laboratory equipment effectively.
  • Basic troubleshooting and protocol refinement skills to address technical issues and improve experimental procedures.
  • Ability to provide training and support to new team members and students in laboratory techniques and safety protocols.
  • Detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills and the ability to multitask effectively.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot technical issues independently.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, fostering collaboration and effective teamwork.
  • Proficiency in data analysis and interpretation using relevant software tools and statistical methods.
  • Commitment to maintaining a safe and ethical work environment.
