We are seeking an experienced and enthusiastic Health Visitor to join the 0-19 Health Advice Line team 5 days per week (1.0 wte). This role offers a unique and rewarding professional opportunity for a dedicated and dynamic individual.
The Responsibilities Include:
- supporting our Health Visiting and School Nurse teams in the delivery of the Healthy Child Programme
- working towards national and local strategies and development plans
- providing a robust, responsive service by giving evidenced based health advice and information on a wide range of topics via text, telephone, and email.
0-19 Health Advice Line
The 0-19 Health Advice Line is a key part of the Best Start, Community Health and Wellbeing service, offering health and wellbeing support to children, young people and families across Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly. Building on the success of the Health Visitor and School Nurse Advice Line, we have developed this as a stand-alone service run by our dedicated team of nurses using innovative digital platforms to ensure high quality care for families and young people. In January 2024, we introduced ChatHealth; a 0-19 text messaging service which supports parents and carers and young people with expert advice from Health Visitors, School Nurses and Community Nurses about a wide range of children's health and wellbeing issues including sleep, feeding, continence, development, behaviour and more. As well as giving advice, the team signpost to appropriate online resources, face-to-face services, and offer a range of support. You can find out more on the ChatHealth website
Role Responsibilities
As a Health Visitor, you will be working as part of a skill mixed group, supporting in delivering expert advice, guidance and troubleshooting whilst working closely with colleagues across the integrated service.
The role holder will support the day-to-day delivery of the 0-19 Health Advice Line service to ensure the team delivers the Healthy Child Programme including the six high impact areas, in order to improve health outcomes for children.
The role holder will be expected to be confident and competent in the use of digital platforms and reporting systems, enabling families to access self-help through both internal and external digital resources.
The role holder will be expected to undertake line management, supervision, and mentoring of skill mix staff in the team.
The role is a hybrid position, where the majority of work will be carried out from home, with the expectation that you will attend a face-to-face monthly team meeting and any required face-to-face training.
Essential Requirements
The role holder will be expected to have strong communication skills and be confident and competent in the use of digital platforms and reporting systems, enabling families to access self-help through both internal and external digital resources.
You will need to be a qualified Health Visitor (SCPHN) with current NMC registration.
You will be forward thinking, proactive, and committed to improving the health outcomes of children, families and communities.
