The Role:
As the Service Area (Sr.) Director of Clinical Education, you'll be at the forefront of advancing clinical and inter-professional education across our service area. Your leadership will ensure the development and delivery of educational initiatives for nurses, nursing personnel, and clinical staff, excluding Graduate Medical Education (GME). You'll play a pivotal role in professional practice oversight, fostering shared governance, and guiding Magnet/Pathway processes. Collaborate with system, division, regional, and operational leaders to design and implement educational strategies that equip caregivers for high-quality, cost-effective, safe, and compassionate practice. You will lead the charge in conducting education needs assessments, marshaling resources, and evaluating program effectiveness.
What You'Ll Do:
- Educational Leadership: Facilitate learning and proficiency in clinical and inter-professional practice in collaboration with colleagues and the Executive Director of Education and Professional Practice.
- Strategic Budget Management: Develop and manage budgets using best practices for learning needs assessment, intervention design, and efficient training schedules that respect end-users' time and learning styles.
- Collaborative Planning: Build and maintain relationships with operations leaders to align educational activities with business needs and cost-effectiveness. Implement innovative training alternatives and competency goals.
- Subject Matter Expertise: Stay abreast of developing trends and recommend directional changes as needed.
- Consultative Guidance: Provide consultation to decision-makers during new technology selection and implementation, ensuring realistic anticipation of learning needs.
- Internal Consultation and Alignment: Serve as an internal consultant leader, aligning with strategy and vision for System Support & Hospital Operations.
- Strategic Spending Prioritization: Collaborate with leadership to prioritize education spend according to the strategic plan.
- Quality Enhancement Consultation: Work with Quality leadership to align educational outcomes with quality results and compliance with CMS, Joint Commission, and DNV guidelines.
- ROI Analysis: Conduct return-on-investment analysis prior to initiating training or educational programs.
- Compliance and Control: Implement internal controls, audits, and monitoring to sustain results over time, ensuring compliance with PH marketing and communication requirements.
- Change Management Partnership: Partner with operations, IT, clinical engineering, and others to facilitate change management for technology and workflow process changes.
What You'Ll Bring:
- Educational Background: Bachelor's Degree in Nursing and a Master's Degree in Nursing required. Ph.D. in Nursing or DNP preferred.
- Experience: 5 years of direct patient care and progressive experience in healthcare administration or management; 3 years of experience in education/training with demonstrated presentation skills.
- Consulting Expertise: Experience as an internal or external consultant and in project management.
- Licensure: Washington Registered Nurse License upon hire.
- Leadership Skills: Enterprising skills for project startup and execution; critical problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- Systems Knowledge: Comprehensive understanding of hospital clinical and non-clinical systems and processes, information systems, business analytics, and financial concepts.
