We are looking for a Product Designer 2 to help bring marketplace, security, and AI together so our user's can achieve unprecedented productivity. You will have the opportunity to help shape the next evolution of AI + Security, Compliance, and Identity experiences throughout Microsoft Security.
Our design team is a highly collaborative group of user researchers, Responsible AI researchers, content, and product + visual designers. We value creativity, open idea sharing, and having fun while we work. Most of all, we’re motivated by our users and the potential that AI has to improve global security. We are ambitious in our approach to AI and expect the same from everyone we work with.
We are looking for a Product Designer 2 that can conceptualize the big picture, has a clear understanding of AI and its capabilities, and can drive detailed design development. You should have a proven record of innovative thinking, a history of using design to drive new ideas, and the ability to collect feedback from stakeholders and the design team to make the right design decisions.
In this role, you will work with other designers, product managers, and engineers to create forward thinking designs that are user scenario driven and meet business goals. You will leverage user centered design patterns, refine scenarios, place designs into user context, and create interactions that align to those requirements. You will need to show attention to detail and passion in the work you produce.
Responsibilities
- With direction, you will create wireframes, journey maps, prototypes and detailed mockups to iterate on product scenarios.
- You will seek out and incorporate the feedback of the design team to refine your designs and align to larger product patterns.
- You will clearly communicate your work to peers and managers within your immediate team and feature crews.
- You will collaborate with developers to ensure design quality.
- Working alongside a senior team member, you will create a compelling narrative for a specific product or feature and develop product architectures and systems.
- You’ll be an active contributor in evaluating and prioritizing work.
- You will help creative team members, program managers, and developers define product features. You’ll focus on specific features or projects to deliver product design results.
- You’ll contribute to the visual systems and visual language for a product.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Industrial Design, Product Design, Human Computer Interaction, User Experience, Interaction Design, or related field AND 3+ years experience working in product or service design
- 2+ years of experience working within and contributing to design systems, style guides, component libraries, and technical frameworks.
- OR equivalent experience
Other Requirements:
- The ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Deep knowledge of design, with strengths in content design, interaction design, and/or visual design.
- Ability to clearly communicate your designs, design decisions, and reasoning and rally people to your vision through effective storytelling.
- Plan, craft, and refine names and terms, UX flows, and in-product language—testing, validating, and adapting.
- Eager to collaborate with partners (PM, engineering, marketing, brand, and content teams) to develop and refine designs.
- Learn-it-all (not know-it-all) attitude and approach.
- Firm grasp of Figma for design and prototyping.
- Willingness to question established thinking in pursuit of better outcomes.
- Customer-centric mindset, with ability incorporate insights from research, telemetry, and customer feedback.
- Awareness of inclusive design and how it supports Microsoft’s mission.
- Experience with Security domain.
- Familiar with agile or lean methodologies.
- Experience with OpenAI/ChatGPT.
- Understanding of Large Language Models (LLM).
- Experience, understanding, and knowledge of Artificial Intelligence.
- Experience with content design and developing human understanable terminology.
Product Design IC3 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $100,600 - $199,000 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $131,400 - $215,400 per year.
