As the Director of Social Media, you will be responsible for defining the channel and creator strategy to accelerate brand perception, increase customer engagement and improve performance-based campaigns. With a data-driven and social intelligence-informed agenda you will set a roadmap for growth and optimize content for platform-native behaviors. In partnership with our Creative Studio, you will continually innovate, measure and refine social content in alignment with channel strategies. This role requires the ability to set a bold strategic vision, translate that into channel and content execution plans, work cross-functionally in a fast-paced matrixed environment, and measure and communicate progress. It will require synthesizing complex data, product, and business priorities into social and creator strategics that future-proof our success.
Additionally, you will partner closely with internal teams and vendors to deliver best-in-class content and experiences that exceed band and performance outcomes. You will be accountable for playbooks that support consistency, efficiency and account for integrated marketing campaigns and local market needs, while meeting Microsoft’s brand, accessibility, and legal standards. You will ensure leadership and partner teams are pacing with social plans while collaborating closely as part of a team to deliver on the opportunity of key marketing moments. And you will lead high-impact analysis, including from platform analytics, information gathering, and research, to deliver reports and learnings. You will need to be adept at managing complex workflows and a breadth of content, while championing excellence and high brand standards across every touchpoint.

Starting January 26, 2026, Microsoft AI (MAI) employees who live within a 50-mile commute of a designated Microsoft office within the US, or a 25-mile commute of a non-US, country specific location are expected to work from the office at least four days per week. Responsibilities
- Define and evolve the strategic direction for Microsoft Advertising’s social channels, including incubating Creator marketing program.
- Be responsible for building, implementing and continually optimizing Microsoft Advertising’s social channel strategy, aligning with business goals and product priorities.
- Create and socialize comprehensive channel plans to accelerate brand perception, increase customer engagement and improve performance-based campaigns.
- In partnership with the creative studio, oversee social channel content creation, including planning and briefs, ensuring stand-out experiences optimized for each channel.
- Collaborate with brand, creative studio, integrated marketing, product marketing, marketing operations and local marketing teams to define a roadmap that will exceed desired brand and performance outcomes.
- Develop playbooks and scalable operating models to enable consistent execution across teams and regions.
- Conduct audits and monitor social media trends, including developments in design, applications, strategy and innovation to stay relevant and effective.
- Track social channel and campaign performance metrics, creating a feedback mechanism into our strategies, tactics and content, to maximize results.
- Embody and promote Microsoft’s culture and values.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
- 8+ years of social media strategy experience, including managing social channels for B2B organizations on the corporate or agency side OR equivalent experience.
- 6+ years experience in the advertising industry or related technology industry.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master's Degree in Business, Marketing, Communications, or related field OR equivalent experience.
- 8+ years social creative strategy experience, which should include brief writing and/or managing strategy on the corporate or agency side.
- 8+ years experience managing projects (e.g., internal stakeholder management, timelines, prioritization, road mapping).
- Experience navigating matrixed corporate environments with lots of stakeholders
- Experience presenting to executives.
Brand IC5 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $130,900 - $251,900 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $165,600 - $272,300 per year.
