We are seeking a business leader to join our Procurement Solutions function, where you will lead procurement partnerships with business stakeholders within our Engineering organization. Procurement Solutions delivers impact by leveraging corporate supplier strategies to create a business-aligned, compliant supplier ecosystem.
The Director of Procurement will lead a team of Procurement Managers and partner with Engineering senior leadership to develop and execute a robust procurement plan that is aligned to both, the procurement and the business’s strategy and priorities. This is a fantastic opportunity to both deepen your existing knowledge and learn more about one of Microsoft’s businesses in a dynamic environment. A successful Director of Procurement will focus on innovation and continuous improvement. This involves leveraging technology, such as Copilot and AI-supported tools, to propose, develop, and enhance procurement processes, driving better decision-making while upskilling their team. Success in this role requires relationship management and cross-group collaboration. These skills are essential for influencing business decisions and achieving cost savings.

Responsibilities
- People Manager Responsibilities: At the heart of Microsoft’s manager philosophy is the belief that managers deliver success through empowerment and accountability. This is achieved by consistently practicing three core habits:
- Lead a team of Procurement Managers responsible for managing an annual multi-billion dollar indirect spend. This role involves establishing and leading the development of multi-year sourcing strategies and protocols for complex projects and purchasing opportunities in partnership with Engineering
- Integrate business specifications and sourcing strategies into supplier selection processes for strategic purchasing areas. Drive AI solutions and outcome-based contracts.
- Lead cross-functional activities focused on negotiating contracts and costs across various strategic purchasing categories, including technical services, professional services, technology, and more.
- Drive the execution of strategies for business engagements with corporate leadership, including the Engineering business and finance leadership.
- Lead category management and preferred supplier strategy in assigned purchasing categories. Oversee supplier activities and ensure progress across strategic accounts and purchasing categories. Collaborate closely with the Supplier Relationship Management (SRM) team to identify and capitalize on opportunities within key supplier engagements.
- Establish functional standards and set clear procurement performance expectations. This includes defining key performance indicators (KPIs), developing (or improving) standardized processes and protocols, and ensuring compliance. Additionally, monitor and evaluate procurement activities to ensure alignment with organizational goals and continuous improvement.
- Negotiate and provide strategic oversight for improving Service Level Agreements (SLAs), defined milestones, deliverables, and Objectives and Key Results (OKRs). Lead partnerships with global Engineering stakeholders and suppliers to identify systematic business threats and determine mitigation strategies.

Qualifications
Required/Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Supply Chain, Data Analytics, Business, Finance or related field AND 9+ years experience in Data Science/Analytics, Finance, Project Management, Supply Chain, and/or Operations OR equivalent experience.
- Minimum of 5+ years of experience in people management, including leading teams and developing talent OR equivalent experience.
- OR Master's Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Supply Chain, Data Analytics, Business, Finance or related field AND 7+ years experience in Data Science/Analytics, Finance, Project Management, Supply Chain, and/or Operations OR equivalent experience.
Additional or preferred qualifications
- Experienced and proficient in building relationships, conveys executive presence and has executive presentation experience
- Corporate communication skills and demonstrated curiosity through growth mindset
- Ability to collaborate effectively both within Microsoft Procurement and with other teams at Microsoft
- Analytical skills that enable extracting data from a variety of sources, drawing conclusions and translating those into clear actions
- Demonstrates business acumen and a keen awareness of business strategies and how Procurement can drive business impact
