In support of that mission, the CoreAI team at Microsoft is focused on empowering every developer to shape the future with AI. To do this, we are building a complete set of AI-driven developer tools, on top of a full-stack AI app and agent factory, with security and trust baked in from the start. This includes everything from GitHub, which is rapidly becoming the center of gravity for AI-powered software development and operation, to Azure AI Foundry, which enables organizations to build, orchestrate, and manage AI apps and agents of all kinds 

We are seeking a Communications Director to help drive strategic communications for this work. In this role, you will build and operate high-impact communications programs in areas like executive communications (external and internal), social and influencer strategy, and editorial strategy and content. To do this, you’ll employ cutting-edge AI tools and partner with a broad range of colleagues across product, engineering, research, communications, marketing, and developer relations, leveraging the collective strength of our technology and our teams to drive positive communications outcomes for the business. 

Responsibilities

  • Partner with leaders across product, engineering, research, communications, marketing, and developer relations to develop and execute on strategic communications programs for the CoreAI organization.  
  • Build and lead the operation of the executive speaking communications function for CoreAI, spanning speaking/events (external and internal), social, and editorial. This includes strategy and process development; content development (including written assets, visual assets, demos, and briefing materials); cross-functional leadership and coordination; and day-to-day execution. 
  • Partner with leaders across communications, marketing, and developer relations to refine and execute on CoreAI's owned-channels strategy, including audience and content strategy development, process development, and editorial tasks like writing and editing. 
  • Leverage AI tools to explore new ways to reach key audiences, generate communications materials, and measure the impact of communications programs. 
  • Leverage experience building community within technical audiences to provide counsel on communications, marketing, and engagement strategies. 

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Business Administration, Marketing, Communications, Finance, or related field AND 6+ years Communications, Marketing Operations, Field Operations, Program Management, Project Management, or related experience 
  • OR equivalent experience
  • 3+ years experience in technology communications

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelors Degree in Business, Marketing, Communications, Finance, or related field AND 8+ years Communications, Marketing Operations, Field Operations, Program Management, Project Management, or related experience  
  • OR Masters Degree in Business, Marketing, Communications, Finance, or related field AND 6+ years Communications, Marketing Operations, Field Operations, Program Management, Project Management, or related experience 
  • 4+ years experience in technology communications 
  • 6+ years experience supporting senior executives in an executive communications role 
  • 3+ years experience working with social media platforms 

Communications IC5 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $130,900 - $251,900 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $165,600 - $272,300 per year.
