Principal Piping Designer / Checker (Oil & Gas)

Wood is recruiting for a Principal Piping Designer / Checker for an exciting 3-month opportunity for an immediate start to be involved in our growing portfolio of projects and bring new direction and experience to our existing teams. Based in Perth CBD, this is a contractor role and is available as a full-time / part-time (job share) basis.

Reporting to the Lead Piping Designer, you will be working across FEED / Execution to EPCM delivery, with a focus on design. 

To be successful in this role, you will have prior Designer level working experience in the Offshore LNG, Oil & Gas sectors within an EPCM engineering and maintenance project environment with both onshore and offshore scope of work engagements. 

What We Are Looking For:

• Demonstrated Experience to drive design teams to deliver Quality design deliverables
• Demonstrated capability of performing the full range of discipline design and analysis
• Demonstrated ability to work independently with good initiative and interpersonal skills 
• Technical associate’s degree or equivalent in education and/or experience 
• Demonstrated ability to check piping deliverables
• Self starter with the ability to guide / train junior level designers.

Expected:

Only candidates with full work rights for the Australian location will be considered.

• Tertiary qualified in Engineering / Drafting 
• Minimum of 15 years piping design experience in the oil and gas industry
• Minimum 5 years in Principal Design role managing project scopes and resources
• Understanding of discipline technology and other discipline requirements 
• Ability to problem solve effectively 
• Attention to detail 
• Competency in E3D CAD systems is essential
