Description

Job Overview

Dynasty is building an integrated advisor platform that combines proprietary applications with leading third-party solutions. As the Head of Engineering, you will serve as a strategic, hands-on leader and trusted partner to our product organization, overseeing a multi-disciplinary team across software, data, and cloud engineering. In addition to setting the technical vision, you will be directly involved in architectural decisions, code reviews, and technical problem-solving as needed. You will be responsible for driving the delivery of secure, scalable, and innovative solutions leveraging Microsoft Azure, the .NET Platform, M365, and Data Bricks. This role requires you to lead by example, actively engaging in technical work while aligning technology initiatives with business objectives and ensuring the successful execution of our product roadmap through effective leadership, technical guidance, and close collaboration with stakeholders and executives.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, mentor, and retain a high-performing, hands-on engineering team across software, data, and cloud disciplines. Set ambitious goals and OKRs, oversee capacity planning, and champion ongoing improvements in SDLC quality, predictability, and velocity. Ensure all work is aligned with product roadmaps and enterprise priorities, personally engaging in architectural reviews and technical problem-solving when needed.
  • Define and monitor team health and delivery metrics—including throughput, cycle time, escaped defects, and change fail rate—while partnering closely with Product to translate business outcomes into measurable engineering objectives. Actively participate in code reviews and technical guidance to uphold standards.
  • Provide technical leadership in architecting cloud-native services and applications on Azure, directly contributing to solution design and hands-on implementation. Ensure all solutions meet performance, reliability, security, compliance, and cost targets through active involvement in technical decisions.
  • Develop and maintain technical specifications, solution diagrams, and reference architectures. Advocate for and implement modern design patterns such as SOLID principles, event-driven architectures, and microservices where appropriate, with direct, hands-on contributions to technical deliverables.
  • Translate business objectives into actionable roadmaps and technical frameworks, managing trade-offs across scope, time, and risk. Communicate progress, challenges, and dependencies to executives and stakeholders, while remaining directly involved in technical execution and troubleshooting.

Requirements

Requirements

  • Experience: Minimum 7+ years in software/data engineering, with at least 3 years directly leading engineering teams as both a strategic and hands-on leader. Demonstrated success delivering cloud-native systems at scale and engaging with stakeholders and executives on both technical and business matters.
  • Platform expertise: Deep, hands-on experience with Azure services (App Services/Container Apps, Functions, Storage, Data Factory/Data Bricks), M365, and direct involvement in building, deploying, and optimizing solutions in these environments.
  • Identity & data: Strong working knowledge of Entra ID/Azure AD fundamentals, environment strategy, and Dataverse schema design. Proven ability to design and implement data pipelines, ensure data quality, and enforce governance practices through hands-on technical work.
  • SDLC & DevOps: Expertise in CI/CD (Azure DevOps/GitHub), automated testing, and observability (Azure Monitor/App Insights). Capable of setting, enforcing, and personally upholding engineering standards through direct participation in the development lifecycle.
  • Security/Compliance: Solid understanding of SOC 2 Type 2 controls, secure coding practices, and access management, with a track record of implementing these requirements in hands-on engineering work.
  • Communication & leadership: Exceptional executive-ready communication skills, with the ability to craft and share technical roadmaps and stories. Demonstrated success in coaching and developing engineers, setting clear expectations, and actively engaging in team development through technical leadership and example.
