Overview Manage all corporate and indirect tax reporting requirements in APAC, coach and train staff members (including any Accountants / Assistant Accountants that may assist with tax lodgements / tax computations), identify any opportunities to be innovative or improve the processes within the Finance team and MUFG Pension & Market Services
Key Accountabilities and main responsibilities Operational Management 
  • Maintain, implement and ensure compliance with MUFG Pension & Market Services tax policies
  • Monitor taxation developments to ensure MUFG Pension & Market Services complies with all legislative requirements
  • Group and selected subsidiary/related party company tax returns
  • Prepare tax provision calculation and disclosures for inclusion in MUFG Pension & Market Services’ interim and annual financial statements and taxes paid report
  • Tax accounting for new acquisitions, including review of completion balance sheets, stub returns and ACA calculations
  • Research and development applications, FBT returns, payroll tax lodgements, annual payroll tax reconciliation, GST/VAT returns
  • Ensure ATO is notified of any changes in circumstances
  • Interpret information received from processing functions including Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and Payroll & provide feedback where required
  • Assist in the preparation of monthly management accounts tax calculations
  • Ensure compliance with BAS Agent framework
  • Work with the business to design and execute transfer pricing methodologies, ensuring tax obligations are met in a simple and efficient Payroll tax lodgements
  • Administer myGov access
  • PAYG / Instalment activity statements
  • Key liaison point and policy development regarding employee benefits, where there is or could be a relationship to Fringe Benefits tax legislation
  • Coordinate the timely preparation and completion of MUFG Pension & Market Services’ income tax returns in Australia and overseas
  • Coordinate the timely preparation and completion of the income tax provision calculations for inclusion in the financial statements
  • Assist in the preparation of tax disclosures in the interim and annual financial statements
  • Coordinate MUFG Pension & Market Services’ R&D applications, where relevant
  • Coordinate the timely preparation and completion of FBT returns, payroll tax lodgements and annual payroll tax reconciliations for designated companies
  • Respond to any requests from regulators / tax audit requests (e.g. Australian Tax Office, Offices of State Revenues, overseas tax offices).
  • Perform ad-hoc financial reporting as may be required from time to time
  • Assist on projects and financial transactions (acquisitions, disposals, restructuring etc) as may be required, including the performance of any stub returns
  • Key point of contact for external tax advisors 
  • Champion process improvement within the financial accounting and transaction processing functions
  • Ensure taxation balances are accounted for correctly, entered into the monthly management accounts and general ledger
  • Monitor compliance of all overseas and subsidiary company’s tax returns and coordinate completion with overseas subsidiary management / tax advisor
  • Prepare and maintain a tax reporting timetable, ensuring all key lodgement dates are met
  • Work with the external tax advisors to ensure appropriate tax policies are implemented and fully documented
  • Update documentation regarding changes to the tax consolidated Group – both internally and with the ATO
Reporting People Leadership  Governance & Risk  The above list of key accountabilities is not an exhaustive list and may change from time-to-time based on business needs. Experience & Personal Attributes
  • Tertiary qualifications in Accounting or Finance 
  • CPA or CAANZ qualified
  • BAS or tax agent registration (preferred but not essential)
  • Use of CCH – preferred (or an alternative software package)
  • Demonstrated experience in managing month end reporting requirements and analysis
  • Above average PC skills using Word, Excel and other Accounting products
  • Good understanding of tax legislation and current accounting standards
  • Experience with large corporate structures and the associated consolidation and equity accounting issues is desirable
  • Flexible and responsive, able to work to tight deadlines
  • Excellent numerate skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to take responsibility & resolve issues 
  • Ability to work autonomously and as part of a team
