- JOB TITLE: Public Health Advisor/SME

- TRAVEL: As required to fulfill the responsibilities of the position
IHRC Inc. seeks a dedicated and experienced Public Health Advisor/SME to support our clients at Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC)/Coronavirus and Other Respiratory Viruses Division (CORVD). CORVD’s mission is to provide the health of people by preventing illness, disability and death from respiratory viruses through public health science and practice in the United States and globally. This position is needed for accomplishing CORVD’s mission.
- Assist the client in public health communication and engagement efforts.
- Work with other subject matter experts (SMEs) and clients to provide expertise in public health topics and provide guidance on messaging and risk communication.
- Present health communication briefings or presentations to various groups (e.g., federal, state, and local constituents).
- Evaluate and analyze public health policy and strategy.
- Lead performance and data analysis relating to public health.
- Develop products such as fact sheets, program briefings, questions and answers, program summaries, web pages and program-in-brief.
- Work with other SMEs to plan, develop, implement, and evaluate informational and educational materials intended to reach broad audiences; g. Provide technical assistance to leadership concerning health communication projects, and strategies.
- Review communications products for compliance with internal CDC communication requirements, scientific accuracy, and regulatory standards.
- Participate in calls to identify themes and hot issues and coordinate relevant communication content and provide resolution.
- Liaise with other teams and ensure timely updates and status of documents.
- Provide technical oversight and management of cooperative agreement protocols and documentation.
Requirements
- PhD with 10+ years’ experience
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- Strong proofreading skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent organizational and interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to multitask and be flexible in emergency situations.
- Experience working in a public health setting, preferably with CDC.
- Ability to identify gaps in resources and develop communication strategies.
- Experience with various communications theories and risk communication.
Desired Qualifications
- Experience with digital media channels.
- Experience with 508 compliance requirements.
Language Skills:
- The candidate must possess excellent oral and written communication skills in English
Requirement:
