Job Summary:
The Education and Training Manager (ETM) is a remote-based role that will require 50%-60% travel. Travel will mostly be limited to the United States with the potential for international travel as needed. The ETM is responsible for training New World Medical US Surgical Sales Consultants (SSCs) and international distributing partners and surgeons on NWM’s commercialized product portfolio to meet corporate business objectives. This will require the ETM to conduct regularly scheduled field visits with current sales team members to aid in competency development and enhance sales efforts, as well as deliver in-person and virtual group training sessions as business needs dictate. The ETM will be responsible for a comprehensive new hire sales onboarding program, including dotted-line management of the NWM Field Sales Trainer (FST) team and dotted-line reporting to VP, Domestic Sales, to ensure an effective and consistent onboarding experience. The ETM will also provide education associated with New World Medical’s products for product launches/updates and at key industry meetings. Finally, the ETM is responsible for maintaining strong relationships with key internal and external stakeholders, including key opinion leaders in the ophthalmology community.
Essential Job Duties And Responsibilities:
Develop & execute comprehensive product training for onboarding newly hired SSCs, including (but not limited to):
- NWM product portfolio
- Ophthalmic anatomy & physiology
- Glaucoma disease state
- Ophthalmic surgical procedures (with an emphasis on glaucoma)
- Operating room etiquette and best practices
- Competitor products
- NWM Consultative Selling Framework
- Oversight of the FST team (to ensure consistency in field onboarding)
- Coordination and delivery of in-person Training Competency & Evaluation (TCE) Course
- Pre-TCE virtual training sessions
- Field visit(s) with new hires within their first 3 months post-TCE, as needed.
Provide ongoing field-based training for to the SSC team in partnership with US Sales Management
- In partnership with US Sales Management, collect and analyze data to determine the sales force effectiveness of training methods and techniques.
- Provide timely and accurate feedback/reports to Global Marketing, Sales and Operations teams relating to product field performance, as well as uncovering unmet clinical needs in the market.
Develop and execute US and OUS sales training programs for existing SSCs and distributing partners, including (but not limited to):
- Advanced clinical and product training
- Selling skills reinforcement
- Competitor intelligence
- Product launches and updates
Development and implementation of SSC recertification programs.
- Attend and support major industry trade shows, conferences, exhibits & wet labs.
- Identify and report all adverse events and product complaints/malfunctions to Product Surveillance per company standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- Support wet lab scheduling and execution at industry meetings.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills And Abilities:
- Exceptional presentation, written, and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent planning, organization, and time management skills are required. Ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks, and to facilitate and resolve cross-functional activities and issues are necessary.
- Solid knowledge of eye diseases, glaucoma, ophthalmic surgical procedures, and medical technology landscape required.
- Broad knowledge of product development, product clinical support, regulatory requirements, payer landscape, and life cycle management.
- Proven ability and experience to develop and foster peer-to-peer, credible relationships with medical experts/decision-makers.
- Ability to build effective working relationships across functional areas and levels of the organization.
- Ability to train, motivate, and work in a team environment.
- Ability to use Microsoft Office (e.g., Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint) and Adobe PDF effectively.
- Ability to use CRM based solutions (e.g., Salesforce)
Education And Experience:
- Minimum of Bachelor’s degree or COA, COT, COMT and 10 years of applicable experience.
- 5+ years of directly related industry experience in ophthalmology field.
- Experience as a medical device CAS, MSL, and Surgical Sales roles preferred
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to travel 50%-60% of the time to commercial sites in US/OUS, depending on business needs and project assignments.
- Ability to travel with field representatives (approx. 30-40 field visits per year), and to company and major ophthalmology industry meetings.
- Valid driver’s license and passport with no major driving violations.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times.
- Willingness and ability to obtain required credentials for surgery center access.
