Pelican Bay Foundation is a master homeowners association and premier luxury community in Naples, FL. One of the area’s largest exclusive enclaves, it spans more than three square miles and is bordered by pristine white-sand beaches. Our community offers one of the most diverse slates of amenities and activities in the region.

The Foundation manages all amenities and common areas, including two beach facilities with private restaurants, three racquet facilities, two boardwalks, a fitness and wellness center, a community center, and approximately ~90 acres of land. With more than 6,500 residences and thousands of members, Pelican Bay is widely regarded as one of the most desirable communities in the country.

About The Position

The General Manager (GM) is the chief executive of Pelican Bay Foundation and is accountable for the overall performance, culture, and strategic direction of the organization. Reporting directly to the Board of Directors, the GM ensures that community priorities are aligned with Foundation operations and that Pelican Bay continues to evolve as a premier residential community.

The GM provides direct supervision to the Deputy General Manager – Administration & Governance, the Deputy General Manager – Community & Member Experience, the Director of HR & Organizational Development (if retained), and the Director of Communications & Marketing.

This is a hands-on, visible role that requires a leader equally skilled in strategic planning, governance, financial oversight, organizational development, operations and community & local government engagement. The GM must set the tone for culture, transparency, and continuous improvement, while fostering strong collaboration with the Board, committees, Team Members, and community members/owners.

What You’Ll Do


Strategic Leadership & Alignment

  • Translate community vision and Board directives into actionable strategic priorities for the Foundation.
  • Ensure that the Foundation’s organizational structure, staffing, and systems are aligned with long-term community goals.
  • Create a long-term vision and lead strategic planning and community master planning in partnership with the Board and the Strategic Planning Committee.
  • Lead efforts to protect Pelican Bay’s unique natural environment of beaches, mangroves, and estuaries in conjunction with PBSD and regulatory agencies.
  • Provide vision and leadership for a long-term Coastal Storm Management Plan in, concert with the Resiliency Committee, which will prepare and protect the community against storms, climate change, and sea level rise. 
  • Build a culture of continuous improvement, ensuring the Foundation evolves to meet future challenges and opportunities.

Governance & Board Partnership

  • Serve as the primary liaison to the Board of Directors, providing transparent updates, reports, and recommendations.
  • Ensure compliance with all statutory and regulatory requirements, working closely with the AGM–Administration & Governance.
  • Provide leadership to ensure Board decisions are implemented effectively, with accountability and follow-through.
  • Partner with the Elections Committee to ensure fair, transparent, and compliant governance processes.

Financial Stewardship

  • Provide oversight of the Foundation’s ~$25M budget, ensuring financial stability, transparency, and alignment with strategic goals.
  • Partner with the AGM–Administration & Governance, Treasurer, and Finance Committee to strengthen internal controls and financial discipline.
  • Ensure that community resources are used efficiently and effectively to maximize member value.
  • Drive the development and implementation of a long-term financial plan to re-invest in the community.

Community & Member Engagement

  • Serve as a visible, approachable leader, engaging with members in daily life across Pelican Bay amenities.
  • Communicate proactively with the community, ensuring members are informed, reassured, and engaged in developing Foundation priorities.
  • Partner with the Director of Communications & Marketing to deliver clear, consistent, and timely messaging across all channels (Post, Today in Pelican Bay, website, app, social media etc.).
  • Build trust with members through transparency, responsiveness, and authentic community presence.

Culture, People & Organizational Development

  • Champion Pelican Bay as a fun, energizing, and fulfilling place to work, where Team Members are recognized as critical resources.
  • Align Team Member priorities with community strategic priorities, ensuring personal growth and succession planning.
  • Mentor and support senior leaders, including both Assistant General Managers and department directors.
  • Partner with the Compensation Committee to ensure pay structures, benefits, and performance systems support attraction and retention of top talent.

External Relations

  • Represent Pelican Bay with external stakeholders including Collier County officials, Pelican Bay Services Division, partner organizations, and regulatory bodies.
  • Work closely with the Government Affairs Committee to anticipate, influence, and respond to external challenges and opportunities.
  • Ensure Pelican Bay’s reputation is protected and strengthened in the broader Naples community.

Requirements

Skills & Experience

  • 15+ years of executive leadership experience in complex, multi-unit consumer facing organizations.
  • Proven ability to balance strategy and operations, with strengths in governance, finance, and member-facing services.
  • Experience working with a Board of Directors or governance body, with a record of transparent, collaborative relationships.
  • Strong financial acumen and experience overseeing large budgets and complex funding models.
  • Experience developing, gaining community support for, and implementing large capital projects.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills; approachable, visible, and effective at building trust.
  • Demonstrated success leading cultural change, organizational development, and succession planning.
  • Background in community associations, hospitality, clubs, or other consumer-facing organizations a plus. 

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Hospitality, Public Administration, or related field required.
  • Master’s degree or advanced professional credential preferred.
