A rare opportunity has come available to join a well-established and close-knit team at vets for pets Bangor paying up to £60,000 (FTE, DOE) 

  • Join a team with years of experience that can help support you during the next stage of your veterinary career
  • This is a MAT cover position for 1 year, however there is the potential for this to become a permanent role
  • Stephen one of the practice owners holds an Ophthalmology certificate
  • This is a full time roll and will include 1 in 3 Saturday mornings (9am to 1pm)
  • No OOHs or Sundays!
  • This is ideally a full-time role of between 35 – 40 hours per week
  • This is a great role that gives you a good mix between consults and surgery
  • Excellent salary up to £60,000 dependant on your experience and qualifications

About Us:

Vets for Pets Bangor is a well-established practice with a loyal client base that has become a staple in the local community providing the best care possible for the local community and their furry friends. 

We are a team of 3 vets, including Stephen and Shona the practice owners, this offers a great opportunity to work hands on with the owner on a weekly basis allowing decisions to be made quickly and effectively whilst still allowing you complete clinical freedom. 

Stephen, who qualified from University College Dublin in 2001 & has a Certificate in Ophthalmology and Shona Grant, who qualified from the University of Glasgow in 2013 lead a friendly team of 3 Vets, 3 Nurses, 1 Student Nurse, 4 Receptionists and a Practice Manager. 

The practice is accredited by the RCVS Practice Standards Scheme for Small Animal General Practice. The practice is based close to Bangor’s town centre, with easy commuting options to Belfast by train or by car.  

The Role:

This is a fixed term position for 12 months to cover maternity leave, full time is preferred but part-time happily considered. The position will be up to 40 hours per week & you will work 1 in 3 Saturdays 9am to 1pm, working on a set rota with Vets Now handling our OOH. 

Ideally the role will start in January 2026 

About You:

The ideal Vet will have good surgical & medical skills & be capable of working sole charge occasionally. The ideal candidate will be passionate about providing an excellent service & working as part of a highly skilled team. They will also have the ability to work up cases to a high standard. 

Enthusiasm & energy are a must, as is a willingness to communicate with colleagues & clients in the best interests of our patients.
