EMBL Hamburg is a technological hub for integrative structural biology, offering an international and stimulating environment for research in molecular and structural biology. Our molecular and biochemistry laboratories are fully equipped for protein production in multiple expression systems, as well as for comprehensive biochemical and biophysical analyses.
We are seeking a skilled and motivated technician to support researchers and ensure smooth laboratory operations at EMBL Hamburg. The position can be offered full-time or part-time, with flexible working arrangements (reduced hours possible).
Your Role
- Maintain, service, and repair laboratory equipment.
- Perform general technical lab work, including maintaining chemical stocks, bacterial strains, and assisting with media and buffer preparation.
- Support all aspects of laboratory management, including purchasing and inventory tracking.
- Communicate with company representatives as required.
- Assist in the induction of students and fellows in laboratory practices and equipment use.
You Have
- Trained as a laboratory technical assistant or alternatively a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in biology, chemistry, or equivalent qualifications.
- Practical experience in molecular biology and biochemistry.
- Experience with protein expression and purification using ÄKTA systems is advantageous.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with research teams.
- Proficiency with standard desktop software; fluency in English. German language skills are desirable.
Contract details: The position is offered as an initial 3-year contract, with the possibility of extension. Both full-time and part-time (reduced hours, 70%) arrangements are also possible.
Salary: Grade 4 (monthly salary starting at € 3.704,83 after tax and before 12,05% EMBL social security deductions) + other paid benefits based on personal circumstances
