Pulp Process Engineer

Summary

Responsible for design, operation, and optimization of processes used to convert raw materials (recycled fiber) into pulp products.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.  Other duties may be assigned.

• Evaluate processes for breaking down fibers into pulp, removing impurities.
• Responsible for controlling and improving operating parameters to enhance efficiency, minimize energy use, and reduce waste.
• Identify and resolve problems with machinery and processes to prevent production downtime.
• Oversee the maintenance, optimization, and upgrades of pulping equipment.
• Develop and implement procedures to ensure the final pulp meets high-quality standards.
• Collect and interpret process data to make informed decisions and implement improvements.
• Oversee and optimize the chemical processes used in pulping and bleaching.
• Ensure operations adhere to environmental regulations and promote eco-friendly practices.

Qualifications

• Degree in Manufacturing, Industrial or Mechanical Engineering or similar field.
• Strong understanding of pulping, chemical systems, and machinery.
• Strong teamwork and communication skills with Operations, Engineering, and Maintenance staff.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to address technical challenges in manufacturing environments.
