About The Role:
Superluminal Medicines is seeking a highly motivated and collaborative Scientist / Sr Scientist with experience in drug discovery and GPCR pharmacology to join their growing and dynamic Biology team and foster the discovery of new medicines. The company is a target and biology-first drug discovery organization that applies artificial intelligence and machine learning (AI/ML) methods to common drug development bottlenecks, while paying close attention to the seamless integration of biology, chemistry, and computation. Key responsibilities:
- Provide robust biology support for Superluminal Medicines’s research programs.
- Think critically through target biology and formulate experimental plans to guide project trajectory.
- Strategize and conduct cell biology experiments to support program enablement, drug discovery workflows, and mechanism of action evaluations.
- Demonstrate a high level of initiative and discipline to execute experiments following established procedures and make suggestions to improve experimental design.
- Interpret and effectively communicate results to interdisciplinary teams composed of chemists, computational biologists, and machine learning scientists in an environment that highly values scientific integrity and quality.
- Advance external collaborations and outsourced studies.
- Prepare technical reports to support regulatory submissions.
- Ensure compliance with company established practices and procedures, including those related to laboratory notebooks, computer files, quality and regulatory guidelines, and safety.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Ph.D. in Biochemistry, Biology, Pharmacology, or a related discipline with 1-5 years of experience supporting drug discovery programs.
- Competency as the biology lead of an agile team that supports fast implementation and rapid decision making while maintaining a high level of coordination between internal and external parties.
- Theoretical understanding of GPCRs, small molecule pharmacology, cellular signaling pathways, and lead discovery and optimization practices.
- Technical proficiency in cellular assays and the ability to provide high quality in vitro results.
- Ability to strategize and implement cellular mechanism of action investigations to build an understanding of the molecular pharmacology for key chemical equity.
- Outstanding laboratory techniques to support cell culture and cell-based assays.
- Enthusiasm in mastering the use of complex laboratory instrumentation and related software related to compound handling, cell-based assays, and database archiving.
- Commitment to fostering collaborations across interdisciplinary teams and managing external partners.
