About Us
The Shrivers Hospice Foundation mission is to improve the quality of life for Shrivers Hospice Patients by creating experiences and lasting memories for them and their loved ones. It extends the mission of Shrivers Hospice beyond the bedside—supporting patients, families, and our community through enhanced programs, volunteer engagement, and charitable initiatives. We partner closely with Shrivers Hospice, a trusted leader in end-of-life care, to ensure that patients and families experience compassionate support, dignity, and meaningful moments.
This position also carries supervisory responsibilities for Foundation support staff, including the Administrative Coordinator and the Patient Experience Coordinator, ensuring alignment with the Foundation’s mission and Shrivers Hospice team goals.
We are seeking a dynamic and visionary Executive Director to lead fundraising, donor relations, grant development, and program support. This role will directly shape the growth of our Foundation while working hand-in-hand with the Shrivers Hospice leadership team.
Position Overview
The Executive Director will be the architect and driver of the Foundation’s efforts to expand impact through philanthropy. The right candidate will combine strong nonprofit fundraising and grant experience with the relational skills to inspire donors, engage volunteers, and collaborate closely with the hospice clinical and administrative teams.
This is not a siloed role—the Executive Director will be embedded in the fabric of Shrivers Hospice operations, ensuring that Foundation initiatives directly enhance patient care, family experiences, and community engagement.
Key Responsibilities
Fundraising & Development:
Build and execute a comprehensive fundraising strategy, including donor cultivation, major gifts, planned giving, memorial contributions, corporate sponsorships, and community campaigns.
Develop innovative fundraising events and campaigns that align with hospice values and the “Caring More Matters” philosophy.
Grant Writing & Management:
Identify, write, and manage grant proposals to secure funding for Foundation and hospice initiatives.
Track reporting and compliance, ensuring accountability to funders and alignment with foundation needs.
Team Leadership
Provide direct supervision to the Foundation Administrative Coordinator and the Patient Experience Coordinator.
Offer coaching, performance feedback, and professional development to ensure staff are engaged, supported, and working collaboratively with hospice team members.
Foster a positive, mission-driven culture that reflects values of both the Shrivers Hospice Foundation and Shrivers Hospice.
Collaboration With Hospice Team:
Work closely with Shrivers Hospice leadership, clinical teams, and volunteers to design programs that directly benefit patients and families.
Partner on initiatives such as volunteer program expansion, concurrent pediatric care, bereavement support, and special patient experiences.
Community Engagement & Visibility:
Serve as the face of Shrivers Hospice Foundation in the community, building strong relationships with donors, civic groups, faith-based organizations, and local businesses.
Represent the Foundation at events, speaking engagements, and community functions.
Organizational & Financial Leadership:
Oversee Foundation operations, including budgeting, reporting, and resource allocation.
Maintain clear communication with the Foundation Board, preparing reports, updates, and strategic recommendations.
Volunteer Engagement:
Partner with hospice volunteer leadership to strengthen and expand the volunteer program, highlighting the cost-savings and impact of volunteer contributions.
Develop donor/volunteer recognition initiatives to foster loyalty and long-term relationships.
