Business Development Internship - Biotech Startup

About XtRNA Bio:
XtRNA Bio is a young biotechnology startup focused on developing cutting-edge gene therapies targeting neuromuscular diseases, including Charcot-Marie-Tooth Disease. We aim to translate our innovative research on tRNA biology into life-changing treatments for patients. As we expand, we are looking for a motivated BD intern to join our team.

Position Overview:
The internship will focus on driving strategic initiatives to guide XtRNA Bio’s pipeline development and business growth. The intern will contribute to market and competitive landscape analyses, partner and stakeholder mapping, and opportunity assessments for new therapeutic indications. This role is ideal for someone eager to gain hands-on experience at the intersection of biotech innovation and strategic decision-making, providing valuable insights into how early-stage therapeutic platforms identify, prioritize, and advance opportunities in a competitive market.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead competitive landscape analyses to identify market dynamics, emerging technologies, and potential differentiators for XtRNA Bio’s platform.
• Map potential partners, collaborators, and stakeholders across biotech, pharma, and academia to inform strategic business development initiatives.
• Track and analyze market trends, investment activity, and relevant policy or regulatory developments to guide portfolio strategy.
• Prepare clear, data-driven reports and strategic briefs to support decision-making by the leadership team.
• Contribute to the preparation of presentations and materials for investors, partners, and other external stakeholders.

Qualifications:

• Current MSc or PhD student in Life Sciences, Biotechnology, or a related discipline; candidates with a focus on healthcare business or life-science entrepreneurship are also encouraged to apply.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to synthesize scientific, market, and competitive intelligence into actionable insights.
• Interest in the BD and strategic aspects of biotech innovation; prior exposure to market research or competitive intelligence is a plus.
• Proficiency in creating clear, data-driven presentations and visual summaries.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills in English; ability to convey complex information to non-scientific audiences.
• Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and comfortable working both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced startup environment.
• Familiarity with scientific literature databases and market research tools is an advantage.
