Job Description
As a key member of the Payer Contract Analytics team within APEX, the individual in this role will work on the Market Access and Patient Services (MAPS) team will be responsible for supporting the Market Access function at AbbVie. The primary job responsibility is to perform contract data analytics to provide insights for AbbVie’s key Payer customer(s) across multiple channels of pharmaceutical businesses such as the Commercial Insurance channel, Medicare and Medicaid Channels.
This role requires collaboration with stakeholders including Finance, Marketing as well as field-based Account Managers. The individual in this role will help to ensure AbbVie has the appropriate pricing and contracting analytics for our current products, as well as future pipeline products.
Key Job Responsibilities
Responsible for working with hiring manager to perform payer contract analysis, communicate results/ recommendations from analysis across therapeutic areas to improve gross-to-net sales performance while ensuring the quality and accuracy of all analytical results. Key areas of functional scope include:
- Work in conjunction with the broader Payer contract analytics team to support US Payer Account team to assess contracting opportunities for AbbVie’s products
- Perform data analysis and financial modeling to determine appropriate discounting for desired access for Brand/ product
- Gather and analyze data from multiple sources (e.g., customer rebates, syndicated sources such as IQVIA, Symphony Health etc.) and update existing analysis tools
- Iteratively model AbbVie and Payer Economics during deal negotiations to ensure that AbbVie’s proposed contract strategy meets internal financial benchmarks and that payer views are also understood, to ensure that contracting can be mutually beneficial to both parties
- Interface with key customers to share results of contract analyses, and influence decision-making
- Provide analyses via periodically generated reports on key metrics and trends to Sales and Marketing Leadership teams, and other internal customers
- Create and manage dashboards to report on key performance metrics for AbbVie’s products by therapeutic area and channel of business
- Measure performance of contracts by retrospectively evaluating performance of contracts (deal vs. no deal scenarios)
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or foreign academic equivalent in Statistics, Economics, Actuarial Science, Business Analytics or a highly related field of study, & 3 years of work experience in financial modeling &/ or data analytics in the pharmaceutical, health care or other industry that requires in-depth business/ data analytics
- Strong programming background (SAS, SQL, Python) to be able to query databases to obtain necessary data for analysis and modeling
- Strong Excel skills, including being able to perform analysis using intermediate and advanced Excel skills such pivot tables, index match functions etc.
- Familiarity with utilizing Power BI to synthesize data, gain insights and inform strategy
- Strong communication skills (PowerPoint), both written and verbal, ability to work collaboratively with peers and leadership on cross-functional teams
- Ability to take directions from direct supervisor, and work to produce accurate results in a fast-paced environment, especially during key contract negotiations
