Night Auditor
How can there be a better job than helping the road-weary traveler check into a fresh, clean room – especially when working the overnight shift? As the Night Auditor at The Westin Nova Scotian, you may not be the first person most guests meet, but you often leave the lasting impression during their early morning checkout. In this role, you review the prior day’s books, looking for anything unusual, and ensure that as the sun rises, all records are accurate. You are important!
This is more than a desk job. You’ll check guests in and out, respond to late-night inquiries, assist with safety and security, and support the overnight audit process. You’ll be a key part of the team that ensures a smooth start for the day ahead. In the role of Night Auditor, you will:
- Be the Overnight Host – Offer a warm welcome to late-arriving guests and a smooth departure for early risers. Make every interaction count, whether it’s a check-in at midnight or a checkout at dawn. Provide efficient, friendly service with a genuine smile—even at 3 AM.
- Be Accurate & Accountable – Process the day’s transactions with care and attention to detail. Complete the nightly audit, balance reports, and prepare essential financial summaries for leadership. Accuracy is critical—your work sets the tone for the entire day’s operations.
- Be a Safety & Security Agent – Keep a watchful eye on the hotel throughout the night. Monitor activity, follow established procedures, and escalate concerns to leadership as needed. Be alert, responsive, and take pride in ensuring a safe environment for all.
Job Requirements
- Minimum 1 year of front desk experience required
- Proficiency in hotel front office systems; Marriott systems (Opera, MARSHA, GXP) an asset
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to financial accuracy
- Excellent verbal and written communication in English
- Ability to stay calm and professional during late-night or unexpected situations
- High school diploma required; post-secondary education in hospitality is an asset
- Must be available for overnight shifts, including weekends and holidays
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 20 lbs occasionally
Additional Job Duties
- Check guests in and out accurately and efficiently
- Process daily financials and complete night audit reports
- Respond to guest inquiries, requests, and concerns
- Ensure all hotel health, safety, and security protocols are followed during overnight hours, addressing or reporting any issues as needed
- Support wake-up calls, late-night room moves, and guest amenity requests
- Coordinate room status updates and resolve discrepancies
- Communicate effectively with morning team and leadership
- Maintain a clean and organized front desk area
- Report maintenance or safety concerns to appropriate departments
- Perform other duties as needed to support overnight hotel operations
If you're a dependable, service-driven individual who enjoys working independently and takes pride in getting the details right, we’d love to meet you. Join the overnight team at The Westin Nova Scotian and help make sure every guest leaves with a great impression—no matter what time they arrive.
