Job Description
The Accounting Manager / Financial Analyst is responsible for overseeing the hotel’s accounting operations, ensuring accurate financial reporting, and providing insightful analysis to support strategic decision-making. This role combines managerial accounting oversight with financial planning and analysis to optimize the hotel’s performance.
Key Responsibilities:
Accounting & Financial Reporting:
- Manage daily accounting operations including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger activities.
- Prepare timely and accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in compliance with company standards and local regulations.
- Ensure proper documentation and compliance with internal controls and accounting policies.
- Reconcile balance sheet accounts and review journal entries.
Financial Analysis & Planning:
- Conduct variance analysis comparing actual results to budget, forecasts, and prior periods.
- Assist in preparing the annual budget and periodic forecasts.
- Provide financial insights and recommendations to management to support operational and strategic decisions.
- Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and prepare management reports for department heads and senior management.
Audit & Compliance:
- Support internal and external audits by preparing schedules and providing necessary documentation.
- Ensure compliance with local accounting standards, tax regulations, and corporate policies.
- Review and maintain internal controls to mitigate financial risks.
Team Leadership & Collaboration:
- Supervise and mentor junior accounting staff, ensuring accuracy and efficiency in all accounting processes.
- Collaborate with other hotel departments (e.g., operations, sales, revenue management) to optimize financial performance.
- Serve as a financial liaison for corporate reporting requirements.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- Minimum of 3–5 years of experience in accounting or finance, preferably in the hospitality industry.
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles (GAAP) and financial reporting standards.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software (e.g., Sun, Opera, ADP).
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
- Ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines, and maintain confidentiality.
Preferred Competencies:
- Experience in hotel or hospitality finance operations.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Leadership abilities with the capacity to train and develop a finance team.
- Ability to present complex financial data in a clear and concise manner.
